I actually live near where Creature From the Black Lagoon was filmed. It was filmed at Wakulla Springs and a bunch of people swim near the filming area. Also, when they take you on boat rides they show you the major areas they filmed in. They also have posters and things from filming in the restaurant and “museum” (I put that in quotations cause it’s veryyyy small). Quite a cool little experience. But Wakulla Springs is known far and wide in this area for the fun times and cool water to relieve everyone of the Florida heat; unfortunately most people don’t realize the significance of that movie being filmed there anymore.

This episode reminds me of my grandmother's big yellow pyrex bowl full of home-made popcorn (along with a pitcher of iced tea) that my sister made as snacks every Friday night for horror movie night at our house. We watched black and white television. My sister loved vampire stories the best, but the horror movie that really frightened her was, "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charolette" (1964). I notice that only one of your other vintage viewers has mentioned this Bette Davis classic.

I love and own Rear Window and Birds as well. Also own and love "Them", about the ants, "Beginning of the End" about the giant grasshoppers, the original "The Haunting" with Julie Harris. I too love the 50's and 60's, even bought old drive in intermission cd's so when I play the retro night of movies, I put the intermissions as well. Miss the old drive in theaters,

I have all those movies you mentioned. One of my favorite is Vincent Price, The House Of Wax. We have just about every movie out there from 1930s to 1975. Love them all

I love Mr. Cash! He is adorable. I am a Bela Lugosi fan. Watched White Zombie recently. Then also The Premature Burial and The Fall of the House of Usher. And like you we watch Night of the Living Dead almost every year. Have a spooktacular Halloween!

Our local Drive Inn last year on Halloween night, showed all 6 Universal Classic Monster movies (Favorite being Dracula). This Saturday, they are doing the same, but with the sequels. Also another one of my favorites is Universal's 1925 The Phantom of the Opera. Every October, The Byrd Theater in Richmond VA does a fundraiser and shows the movie accompanied by it's Wurlitzer Organ score played live.

@@LaciFayTheVintageGirlNextDoor Yes. Directed by William Castle in 1960 (same director who made Mr. Sardonicus). While the storey is similar it is very different from the modern one but in a good way. I love William Castle movies as they tread that fine line of classic horror brilliance and B Grade horror/Elvira flick. William Castle also had a unique approach of often including gimmicks for his films. Whether voting for a good or bad ending for Mr. Sardonicus (although a good ending was never shot as he believe no one would vote for forgiveness) or The Tingler where one of the creatures supposedly escapes into the audience and Vincent Price order everyone to scream to scare the creature away. At the time Castle had teams attaching buzzing de-icers to seats that triggered during that scene so that random people in the audience would actually think the creatures were there.

You talking about your favorite vintage horror movies reminded me of a restaurant we ate at while on vacation this summer at Walt Disney World. The Sci-fi Diner, has the atmosphere of a 1950s drive in movie theater where you sit in cars and there are old horror movies (B) playing. It's a lot of fun.

Gonna go with The Blob (the original 1958 one) because I was intrigued with the eponymous monster, the setting is pretty much a time capsule of what the late 1950s is like, and it features Steve McQueen in one of his earliest roles. A film that I've rewatched every year since first watching it in 2018. Have you checked it out yet?

wow lol I've got the same exact popcorn popper.. last year I popped popcorn in mine and got a needle and thread and stung them together and put it on my 50s Christmas tree and it went good with the rest of my 50s tree decorations.. my grandparents told me they did that in the 50s with the popcorn Garland.. sadly my grandparents are now passed away but they left a good impression on me and I carry on with their traditional 50s and I'm passing it on to my little nieces.
