@@girlscanbedrummers5449 A "DOLL" is ANY version of a human being made from any material and must have moving parts. Otherwise it is a "Figurine". When GI Joe crates arrive from China they are labeled "DOLLs". The term ACTION FIGURE came about by parents and advertisers because they don't want their sons playing with dolls.

It's an art like anything. He is an artist, well trained by his grandma. I think it's great! There is nothing wrong with guys playing with or repairing dolls in my opinion. I think it's more of a guy thing to think that it is not acceptable. It makes some men feel a guy might be gay or would not call it a respectable career. Who cares what anyone thinks anyways. I think it's super cool! I have a lot of respect for this guy who probably fixes some of the most antique dolls you could find. Even the most modern doll artist could probably not repair the types of dolls this guy fixes. By the way, my husband has his Starwars dolls/action figures all over the place in my house. I support his love for his Starwars toys and dolls. My husband also has a thing for Nutcrackers. Now we have like 20 plus Large Nutcrackers, some of which are Starwars themed also. And my husband is the most manly man you can get.

Dr. Tagg kudos to you and your doll doctor profession🥰. I’m middle aged and have a large doll collection, it helps me process childhood trauma. I even have dolls in the bed with me, those are mainly Cabbage patch kids as they’re very soft and cuddly, and representative of my childhood. When I hug a doll before going to sleep I get a rush of endorphins and feel safe. Dolls are so important for the soul. Doll collecting is on a huge upswing at the moment, there’s lots of competition for various types of fashion dolls as well as American Girl dolls. Even the Cabbies get a lot of interest 😂 I forgot to say, my husband is fine with the dolls and he also helps me with restringing and repairing vintage dolls! It’s good to have a little muscle to help with the restringing.

The word doll referred to any figure of a human or animal prior to the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt, where we got the nickname "Teddy Bear" for plush dolls which eventually became ubiquitous with all stuffed animals. Then in the 60s we had the explosion of two gender based toys: Barbie dolls for girls, and GI Joe Action Figures for boys. What made them distinct is that Barbies focused on fashion, hair styles, and career based playsets. Whereas GI Joes invested less in the design of the doll and more on its articulation, tools, weapons, and rival characters. Superhero action figures and vintage Star Wars collectibles further solidified the 'action figure' as a distinctly male hobby because these dolls were smaller and less detailed at the tradeoff of articulation, whereas Barbie was less articulate at the tradeoff of more detail. Personally, I have always preferred the soft plush feeling of stuffed animals to action figures, and I really wanted dolls as a child. But you had to either make your own or look beyond western toy stores to get the high quality textile dolls. As an adult, there are 3 reasons to love the craft: some collect and repair dolls [as one would collect anything] because there is a story behind every doll's origin and previous owner. Some buy dolls and give them custom makeovers, and this is probably the most trendy community because it's cheap and social media friendly. Then there are the true dollmakers themselves who spend dozens of hours and hundreds of dollars (or equivalent) measuring, sculpting, painting, and sewing these dolls. A big allure for the dollmaker is the artistic challenge, as dollmaking requires around 10 different creative disciplines: character design, sketching, sculpting, painting, fashion design, sewing, shoe cobbling, hair styling, photography, video editing, and marketing. You may even need to know carpentry if you want to make your own dollhouses. All of these help to find success as a dollmaker, and for that reason many adults are taking up the hobby and finding real joy in it. There is something very satisfying about sculpting the delicate details of a porcelain doll, sewing the tiny clothing, and brushing the tangled tresses. It's like a little child you fashioned out of your own hands. As children, dolls are a way for us to learn companionship, explore our identity, and fantasize about being adults. For adults, dolls are a way for us to express our deepest desires, challenge our artistic craftmanship, and reconnect with our childhood. So there is nothing wrong with a man who collects, repaints, or creates dolls from scratch. Nothing is more masculine than a man who can create or repair things for his family or community.

HPD is horrible. It is usually either old cloth dolls, that smell moldy, but their bodies can be replaced if need be. The HPD inside the hard plastics are usually from the walker that have constructs within. The metal is reacting with the vintage hard plastic. Nothing removes it sadly. I tried air and filtered sunlight that helped. You cannot clean from the inside the water will make it worse. I have one walker. I did notice recently some rusting leakage on her underpants I hand sewed sigh….I still love her since she was a rescue from eby as her title was UGLY OLD DOLL 99c bid. Well I fixed her up, but still has the HPD sigh.

I have a doll similar to one in a pic of the dolls. The head is all porcelain painted with no real hair. I can't find or identify her. I need info !! In the tape 2 dolls are seen at 2:11 into video. Mine is asian and the difference total porcelain head, arms, and feet actually wearing boots ?

Believe me, I have to come out that I like dolls too. And I'm a young girl. Society just doesn't like dolls.
