I think the clip at 0:56 was done with a miniature for a movie. The rest of it looks full-scale.

Yes, that looks like a miniature. Also, right after the 0:56 clip? The bumper falling off? That's not supposed to be the miniature. (Said just in case anyone confused it for the miniature.) The wheels are different.
Amazing to watch these old clips people filmed on their phones many years ago, before colour was invented.

My favorite is when those two bumpers tap each other at 1:06 and the end of one of them comes loose from the bumper bracket! Exciting stuff!! That had to be CGI !
@BLAKHARTFILM

CGI didn't exist when these were made. I will guess that the clip is from a movie and that the bumper which fell off, had the bolts removed prior to being hit. Very simple to do. Also, I saw a pickup truck get hit at slow speed and the bumper fell off. There is a lot of junk on the roads, so be careful when driving.

Jokes aside, it's from a mid 1950s Chevrolet film called "Boxes and Balls." They were demonstrating how in a wreck, the car could still drive away with only having sheet metal damage. However, it looks more like boasting than it does fact. I doubt it would be quite the same if he collided with another car of the same model in an overlap crash, instead of wrecking into the *windshield* of a *parked car.* And he probably had pillows in there.
The first stunt men right there folks, no seat belts , no safty equipment, not even a helmet ,,,when men we're men !

@@TheOzthewiz I don’t think so. I once hit a telephone pole with a 1976 Mercury without a seatbelt doing 40mph and walked away unharmed. I once t-boned a 1977 Delta 88 with a 1974 Pinto and walked away with a bloody nose. Cars of yesteryear were built stronger with more plush interiors. That’s what cushions the blow. Today’s cars are built cheaply with plastic interiors. That’s why they use airbags and people still get sent to the hospital or the morgue.
