OMG I am still so amused that I know the sister of the original owner - how awesome!!! Her sister , my 3rd grade teacher in 1984, was such an awesome teacher! She also collected Cabbage Patch Kids and would let us bring our CPKs to school and she had a designated table in the back of our classroom dedicated to where we could leave our babies all day while we learned! I am so glad you found these! It was kismet!

As someone who was born in 1996 I miss the optimism and magic of the 1980s before things became dark again in the 1990s and 2000s and people became so ugly to eachother. This video is pure and wholesome and it makes me very sad and makes me cry because it makes me wish I was a kid again because being an adult sucks. 😢 The 1980s seemed more futuristic and hopeful than the actual modern day corporate and materialistic world we live in today. Thank you so much for keeping the spirit and beauty of the 1980s alive today. ❤️ 😊 I love cabbage patch kids they are super cute and adorable! ❤

Your enthusiasm and passion for your childhood touches my soul in the best ways! :D 1980s stuff and merchandise must be protected at all costs! I love that you have a childhood picture of your cabbage patch dolls. It’s adorable, and so cool. I remember the baby powder smell on their little plastic shoes. It smelled so good. I never forgot their scent & that’s why I have a tiny collection of four cabbage patch dolls. It stated out a few months ago actually. I started with a 1984 Cabbage Patch doll. For the nostalgia of their scent, and also that’s my birth year. It’s a head mold number 4 pacifier face by Coleco from factory KT. Then I bought two new cabbage patch kids from the Cabbage Patch Kids website. Then I bought the other one from an online seller. It’s the 25th Anniversary cabbage patch toddler. It brings a spoon, and has a little tooth sticking out.

Wow what a haul! I wasn't allowed to have Cabbage Patch Kids in the 80's but I recently got a NITB 1984 Preemie on Ebay that I got to open to finally experience that joy. The box was falling apart, not in excellent condition like these, so I wasn't really ruining anything. She makes me so freaking happy! I also love that there are sellers out there who make new CPK clothes from old 80's patterns. There's still a chance to experience the magic. 🦄

What a cool score Abby. I think you got some good finds and I bet they are worth some moolah. Back in 2014, we went on our family vacay to Helen, GA. The town right next to it is Clevland, Ga which is where the inventor of the Cabbage patch doll was from. The BabyLand General Hospital is there where they say the cabbage patch dolls are born lol. We took our kids to tour it. You can purchase a doll from there and it can be "born" there. The doctor will deliver it, take it to the different rooms and dress it. It is also a museum for old dolls. You should go to visit it sometime. WE bought a small one with a bunny ear outfit. Our youngest daughter took up with it and slept with that doll until just this year. We called her Cottontail lol. She looks rough now.

@@Our80sLife Yes it is weird but I guess I can check it off the list that I’ve been there. Helen GA is a cool town though. They call it German Town. The whole town looks like a German village, similar to how bush Gardens Williamsburg looks. I think there were German immigrants that migrated there at one point that made it like that. Really cool though.

Well, these dolls were never played with or even removed from their boxes. The lady I bought them from must have been very careful with them. Although, all Troll dolls look old, lol! Thanks for watching :)

Hi! Is there anyway to do a hard reset on a talking cabbage patch doll that won't talk? I have one who moved her mouth and doesn't speak, but I have a couple more that don't do anything. What can I try?

Hi Bonnie, sorry I can't help you with that. I don't have any of the talking dolls. You might check out my friend Doreen's channel @DeezCabbiesDollsandToys which focuses on Cabbage Patch Kids and other collectible dolls. She knows a lot more about them than I do, and she might be able to answer that for you.

I think there were lots of homemade versions back in the day. Believe it or not, Keith even had one which was made by his grandma!

I didn't know CPKs were ever made in South Africa. I wonder where else they were made? (Besides China and Hong Kong.) Beatrica is my favorite too. I watched your original CPK video while doing research to sell a CPK who looked like a red-haired version of Beatrica. Her name was Fairlie. Fairlie was unexpectedly hard to part with because she had been my grandma's and was kept more or less mint, like the dolls in this video. Beatrica also reminds me of my CPK Mary, who has the same complexation and the same dress. Unfortunately, I can't keep CPKs here. It's too humid and hot in the summer. I'm afraid they'll get "Cabbage Pox". (Mary already has one spot.) One favorite '80s childhood memento I can keep here are Pound Puppies. Did you have Pound Puppies as a kid? Would you consider doing a video on them? I'd love to meet the pack!

Hi Lisa, thanks for stopping by our channel and watching our videos! Cabbage Patch Kids were also made in factories in Spain, Mexico, and Japan. I've learned from my research that they each have slightly different characteristics, and the dolls made in foreign factories are usually more valuable. It's so interesting! Sorry to hear you had to part with yours. I didn't think about the humidity affecting them so much. I think we're lucky to live in the midwest where most people have nice, cool basements to store their dolls in and protect them from the dreaded "pox." Yes, both Keith and I each had a Pound Puppy as kids. I still have mine, plus a couple others I've purchased at estate sales recently. Here's another thrift haul video from a couple years ago when I found a Pound Puppy: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJeOz5huhbbNhrg.html

Awesome! You should keep the birth certificates unopened, and it's probably best to keep them in the box if you want them to retain their value or you're planning to resell them at some point. If you just want them for yourself, it's fine to remove them, but definitely keep the boxes! Congrats on your new babies!!
