Yep, The Mario Hack community has been making insanely good hacks the last decade or so. It's cool to see this subgenre alive and strong because it's definitely an interesting deviation from the original and fun to watch. I enjoy the frequency of how often he uploads these - maybe a bit more frequently but generally Vin does a good job keeping variety available which is appreciated 👍

Reason: I was dumb, and I was fairly new to sampling. At the time I didn't think of getting anybody to voice any lines, so I ripped a few samples from various sources so I can give the characters voices. I thought they were neat references if anyone caught them, but now I want to update the game to remove it. This was originally made in 2019, which was 5 years ago.

Mario's hat is red because of the supreme law that enforces that every person named "Mario" should own a red "hat" otherwise they will be sentenced to "execution" after being tortured for 543 days, following his body being soaked in a mix of 45% piss, 55% "cum" of dead Yoshis(only green). This law was created by the late supreme king, that was pressured to create this specific law after other "members" of the kingdom "started" "kidnapping" the supreme king's family, shortly after creating the law, the king was found "dead" after shooting himself in the head with 50. caliber "weapon". The reason for the creation of the law was unanimously attributed to the participation of more than 300 "Goombas" 10 years ago in the incident

44:50 YES, I love this one! I watched Simpleflips play this for his Creepypasta competition! It's called "Please Come to the Castle" (go figure) and is one of my favorite Mario 64 romhacks. The technical wizardry they had to pull off for some of the effects, like the eye painting and the static sand still blows my mind.

58:27 after watching pannenkoak2012's video a few weeks ago those rotating cylinders look like a great source of invisible walls, and sure enough vinny gets invis walled quite a few times

These are so interesting to me, I feel like you can sort of make two categories of "Creepy Mario Game". You got the popcorn ones, hyper realistic blood, cheap jumpscares, someone with a giant smile on their face, glitches etc. Then you have the artistic ones; slower pace, heavy themes, melodramatic writing, usually some PT influences. Blumhouse Mario and A24 Mario lmao. Funnily enough I think the popcorn ones are way better, I think because its easier to get past the inherently silly premise and admire some good spritework finding new ways to try and scare you. LUCAS or the one with the skinny luigi are legit fun to watch.

I think they're both silly and unscary, they only can ever plausibly work if you try to bake them into some sort of melodram narrative based IRL. Because at least then you're actually seeing some "real world" impact that can't be mitigated by simply turning the game off. I guess thats why everyone loves MyHouse.wad. There's simply no way you can convince me a funny little sprite with bloody eyes is scary, but then again, I'm not ten anymore.

On top of an overactive imagination in my sleep means I end up scaring myself with fuckass mental images more than the games themselves.

It's generic horror movie for kids stuff... then again all horror movies are basically for 12 year olds max, all childish gory mindless garbage that would never scare an actual adult. Oh no, blood and innards! Anyone over the age of 12 who finds basically any horror movie scary should NEVER get a job as a surgeon.

@@Vaquix000 i'm not saying i'm scared by most horror content, but you have a really poor idea of how human fear works. it's very complicated and differs from person to person, and they're not any less of a person for having the capacity to get scared by certain things. sure, hyperrealistic blood etc. etc. isn't that scary, but fear works in a lot of ways.

Iggy's Castle, that first rom hack, has around 13 endings to it! Kind of nuts how developed a lot of these romhacks are these days.

Honestly, vinny playing Mario horror games is really comforting. It's just a fucking vibe to watch. Easily up there with the monkey ball streams.

Alpha Sphere genuinely impressed me; I often forget just how much people can do with Super Mario World of all things.

Creator of "ALPHA SPHERE: Director's Cut" here: to give a little bit of context, it was originally submitted for a "Halloween Level Design Contest" and it actually got 1st place! The Director's Cut is simply a slightly expanded version of the game, and there's even a prequel I made called "ALPHA SPHERE Zero: Rotten Brains." There is currently a proper sequel in the works, tho I'm still trying to plan the overall structure and the various sequences. Why didn't I make this in any other engine? Like what was said (or speculated I guess), one of the reasons is I simply wanted to work with the limitations of the SNES. It's definitely not weird to wonder why I chose the "wahoo game" to make this, but the main answer is I wanted to do something wild and different that hasn't been done in the SMW Hacking community. That's pretty much how I roll with nearly all my projects. (Yes, I am the same "Daizo Dee Von" who made 100 Rooms of Enemies, and was involved in the recent "Law & Order: Mushroom Kingdom Unit")

#0 IGGY'S CASTLE was updated recently

In the basement we hear Mario saying: “Here we go!” Which he might have done had a conveyor belt not spawned underneath his feet, suddenly drawing him away from the platform. Cradling MIPS the rabbit in his arms, Mario begins running as fast as he can, trying to out race the hole in the collision opening up behind them. Ahead, Luigi appears through a door. Mario pushes harder, edging closer and closer, until finally as he gets within reach, he tosses MIPS to Luigi, but she bounds away into the hands of the abyss before Luigi can grab her. Mario, however, has lost a lot of health. As he stays idle, he puts his hands on his knees and goes “hooh, hooh…” The conveyor carries him backwards ten or fifteen feet more and then for no apparent reason stops. Only the walls and ceiling continue their glitching around him, changing to low-poly versions, flickering, even phasing out altogether. When Luigi returns to the window, he sees his brother attempting to clear the space towards him. He is long jumping repeatedly on the conveyor going “YAHOO! YAHOO! YAHOO!” but is too slow to cover any ground. Whenever he lands a 5-foot long jump, the conveyor carries him back 7 feet before he can begin the next one. What happens next happens so fast it is impossible to realize just how brutal the closure was before it is already over. Only the after-effects create an image commensurate with the shutter like speed with which Mario’s face planted in an overhead beam, sending him falling stunned onto the conveyor belt racing below. “OOMFH!” he says. Jeez, I bet watching the exocist that young would have freaked you out. I did see Poltergeist, Akira and Jaws around that age so I can relate. For many years I was especially afraid of stuffed animals in the dark. And I thought inanimate objects were alive, and would exact revenge if I angered them. Also afraid of the drain in the bathtub, because I thought Jaws would get me if I touched it.

Apparently theres about 5 endings, three at the chase (getting captured, escaping or throwing enough blocks/rings at Dr Andre), one for putting the Alpha Sphere back and one for running out of stage time.

Creepypasta fangames are always my favorite to watch here!

These games were found in Vinny's great great grand cousin's abandoned nightclub in Old York in 1972 by Seal Team 7 and the Ghost Adventures gang and were kept sealed shut in the Greenland Doomsday Vault for decades until Vinny's 39th birthday

Seeing vinny struggle with alpha sphere made me die inside. Awesome stream, that was.

Alpha Sphere game had Final Fantasy Legend 3 dungeon music in it. Neat.

So 8000 x 2 hours is 16,000 hours /24 = 666.67 days! Vinny is friends with the devil confirmed

Yeah holy shit it keeps getting updates with extra endings/routes. I think that one might be the most extensive one Vinny's played content-wise barring *maybe* Coronation Day (vibes) or Alpha Sphere (complete visual/sprite rework).

i find it funny how these hacks always seem to have a lot of effort put into everything except the writing, like many of them have decent spritework, level design and music and then they go and have the corniest "horror" story you'll ever see
