In another interview, Russo claims he was paid six figures a year as a consultant by the USA Network from 2020-2022 to write a Raw review every week and pitch creative ideas. In the middle of that, he reached out to McMahon seeking a *second* Raw consulting job, but balked when McMahon asked him for samples of his work? Why didn't Russo just send his previous reviews that USA was apparently paying him six figures to write? Why was he trying to negotiate a salary ahead of an actual job offer? And why does he think his work product from *25 years* ago is a sufficient qualification for him to be a creative consultant in 2023? He's either lying or delusional or both.

@@slapbass8723 Except Russo claims he didn't want a job. In other interviews, he alleged that he was only trying to help WWE have a better product and better ratings. McMahon didn't owe him the time of day but he at least heard Russo out. McMahon had every right to ask for samples. For Russo to bait-and-switch and demand money for work product that he hasn't officially been hired to produce is disingenuous, at best, and just proves what a sleazy con man he's always been. Again, Russo claims he was already a paid consultant by USA Network during this time period, with an alleged six figure salary. He could've easily submitted some Raw reviews that he was writing at the time. As with every other Russo story, it makes less sense the more you think about it. But this is Russo's con. Anytime he doesn't get his way, he pisses and moans and runs to the Internet. He's been pulling this act since Clinton was President.

    10 ай бұрын

@@redred1952 The attitude era (from 97-99) did not have a "creative team". The shows were written by Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara. This was confirmed by Brian Gewirtz recently, and also JR on his own podcast. When Russo and Ferrara left for WCW, Gewirtz got a call from WWF saying they had no writers and offered him a job. Russo and Ferrara being able to leave WWF scrambling last-minute before a show the way they did is what caused McMahon to add more numbers to the creative structure so it could never happen again. JR stated that Russo and Ferrara were very hands-on with the talent and did not want any interference from anyone else in the office. McMahon gave them that protection because the ratings were hitting record highs. Jim Ross during that time was Head of Talent Relations. Bruce Prichard was a producer - he handled a lot of backstage segments and debut vignettes but he had no input on what was written into the show. Michael Hayes was a match agent, and Jim Cornette was ousted from the writing process in early-1998. They all played a role in the show itself, yes, but none of them were writing the content of the show. Between April 1998 and October 1999 that was on Russo (and later Ferrara who was hired in June 1998).

@@GameTime-yj6qv I think when people say a Russo show in 2023 wouldn't work, they're only looking at what he would bring to the table from a creative viewpoint and not what he would bring to the table from a formatting viewpoint. Matches on RAW would be shorter and would not cut into commercial breaks. That automatically makes more room for multiple story threads to be woven throughout the 3 hours. On top of that Russo is big on keeping the show going at a fast pace and ending with cliffhangers, something we never get anymore. With that comes the stronger continuity - expect to see any cliffhanger play out the following week, or a story that is being told at the top of the show continue to be told into the last 30 minutes. From a creative viewpoint, Russo keeps in touch with pop culture and he thrives on drama and reality - if there's heat backstage you're gonna see it play out on TV because it's a moneymaker. He has his hits and misses but his style is what a show like RAW in particular really needs right now. RAW is not RAW anymore. It's Smackdown-lite with a red color scheme.

Russo is lucky vince mcmahon even reached out to him but vince proved by him reaching out to russo he doesn't know what us fans want anymore because true wrestling fans know russo is a mark who knows nothing about the wrestling business. I take everything Russo says with a grain of salt. This guy has been delusional since WCW folded.

I love me some Vince Russo. He is my favorite guy to listen to about wrestling. I watch his various podcasts weekly. This guy knows what he is talking about.

Brad Siegel destroyed WCW, not Russo who was basically absent by that time. Brad hated wrestling and got bigger in Warner's hierarchy, so he sold WCW for cheap out of spite.

@@yousufseedat7736because Russo lies about everything. You can tell when he lies if you look closely. You'll see his mouth moving and that's how you know he's lying.
