I'm not usually a fan of covers of iconic songs but Vince Gill, who has the voice of an angel, can cover any song beautifully. Well done!

That comment has been used before but it certainly applies here! I'm just curious regarding when this was recorded. Vince looks a bit younger here. He was excellent then and still is!! We look forward to enjoying his performances for a long time to come.

His amazing voice always gets my attention.
Very nice performance by Gill and very cool to have the pianist from the original recording with Simon and Garfunkel, Larry Knechtel.

This performance was awesome Vince Gill is a very humble and gifted person. His talent as a musician player, singer and writer is a gift to all who will stop and take in the experience. And then to have Larry k. there playing his heart out one of the greatest modern piano peaces was priceless. Thanks Joe Chambers these videos you put out are timeless themselves. You have done more for the musician ( that should have got the recognition all along) than anyone else. Thank you Sr. for all of us who truly appreciate what you do.

Vince Gill’s voice is so beautifully clear ..this song is not easily covered but he can do it!!
Vince’s delivery was amazing for sure, and given his obvious talent, who would expect anything less. But for those less familiar with Larry K, seeing/hearing this must have really blown them out of the water. RIP Larry, you were truly awesome brother!
Some people say Vince’s voice sounds like a woman but I don’t hear that. I hear a pure sweet voice!
Can't believe I missed this one. GREAT rendition. Just excellent! 😀😀😀
Vince could sing the encyclopedia and it would be amazing. He is so talented, has obviously the best heart. I have loved his music ever since I heard him. Amy is so.lucky have tge love of this man.

Go Rest High on That Mountain might be one. It’s interesting to me that you’re planning the music for your funeral because I’ve done that too. Well actually I’ve thought about how I would want to the environment during my last days on earth. This happened after I worked at a hospice; I gained a great deal from that experience! So I know I want James Taylor playing but I’m not sure who else…the problem with me is that I have an incredibly wide appreciation for lots of different kinds of music so I don’t know if I’ll be able to choose.
Great version of a great song 🎶🤙🏻

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum He is definitely crazy talented... obviously. It just seemed to take away from the feeling of the song....for me. My comment wasn't personal against his abilities. It's only my opinion. Thanks for the inside info though.
It was great, but why didn't he do the last verse (sail on, silver......)?. Missed hearing that. VG sang it beautifully, however.

Hi Alan... thanks for watching. You know I was wondering why I did that. It was our first induction concert. We inducted a lot of people and it cost thousands of dollars to rent the symphony hall plus stage and film crews so if I remember correctly we cut the last verse to save time. Looking back obvious I wish I had not cut the last verse. Thanks again for watching... Joe
@kylanhanson2111

Such a shame. The last verse in my opinion sends the song into immortality. I am always affected emotionally by the “I will ease your mind” line. It makes the song.
Good job, great singing for sure. But go back and listen to Artie... untouchable. And they didn't do the last (maybe time limited?) verse - the soaring, brilliant, crescendo 'Sail on silver girl', reportedly a reference to Simon's mother.
Is the man playing on piano the original played in the album of Simon and Garfunkel?

First ?
Vince has such a beautiful voice....he can take any song from any genre and breathe exciting, new life into it. He is a true talent. This video would have been better if the piano player wasn't playing so loud and forcefully .... like he was accompanying a marching band! The loud piano drowned Vince's voice out somewhat and that is just wrong! The song is a calming, sweet and gentle one....the piano simply contradicted the message, the meaning, the moment, and of course, the singer.
