One of the things that made Vin Scully the greatest broadcaster of all time was that he knew when to talk, he knew what to say, and he knew when to be quiet. This video demonstrates all three. RIP Vinny.

He also said to keep your eyes open and to tell the truth, even when your wife is being Lucy'd by Bob Greenwald...Bob GREENWALD!!
I can’t get enough of this. I won a single ticket to the game and was in right field that night about 15-20 ft away from where Gibson’s ball dropped. It was an unbelievable night! Still gives me chills.

Wow! That’s awesome
RIP to the greatest announcer of all time.
My father was heartbroken when he found out his sister (my Tia), passed away back in Feb this yr. Then he finds out about Vin Scully's passing and he was devastated. I sat next to him, gave him a hug, and I told him "Look on the bright side dad, Tia is now hanging out with Tommy Lasorda and Vin Scully." R.I.P to a TRUE ICON! R.I.P Vin Scully! You will be missed! 😥
I watched it in real time on TV in New York City and have watched this replay dozens of times. It never gets old. RIP Vin Scully.
Rest in Peace, Vin Scully. You were one of the greatest.

THE greatest. Fixed it for you,
RIP Vinny. We will miss you and that beautiful voice.
I wasn’t born yet when this man was announcing playoff games (I was born in 2000), but he is my favorite to listen to when rewatching 80s playoff games. His voice is like no other and he knew when to be quiet during powerful moments like this. RIP to one of the best announcers the game has ever had.

i was also born in the 2000s and my grandpa was pretty big in comedy and he helped with the lapd memorial foundation. he was luckily good friends with vin scully and i got to meet him a couple of times before he died
6:42, One of the greatest calls of all time from ANY sport. The great Vin Scully.
One the greatest announcers calling one of the greatest at bats in baseball history !
This man and his voice are synonymous with baseball to me. I grew up in SoCal in the 1980s and I was an eleven-year-old Dodgers fanatic during that '88 series. I used to watch them and the (at the time) California Angels - on TV, on the radio, and on the best occasions, in the park, with my dad and grandfather. It says something about his impact that he was inducted into the Baseball HoF thirty-four years before his retirement. Shedding a tear and pouring one out for a true legend who was part of my life.
RIP Mr Scully ✌️
Vin you and the Dodgers were my childhood, RIP dear friend
...talk to his legs and say "Hey let's go we gotta get out of here" "It's one thing to favor one leg but you can't favor two" They really had a way with words
Rest easy Vin Scully you'll be missed 😢 💔 🙏
Steve Sax was a fun player before he was locked up for all those Springfield murders.
Vin, the best baseball announcer of all time, wirh Joe, another one of the best, call the best ending to a baseball game ever!
Loved Gibby when he played for Detroit. Sparky telling Kirk Goose didn't want to walk him, Gibby proceeds to take Goose yard. Another iconic moment for Kirk Gibson. Clutch hitter
Rip 🙏Vin scully
One of the best part of this video is at 06:45 when the car in the parking lot hits its brakes and the driver just realizing he missed witnessing one of the great moments in World Series history. You know someone in that car is yelling "YOU JUST HAD TO LEAVE EARLY!"
My favorite sports video. Great call by a Hall of Fame announcer who knew to let the picture do the talking. Arguably the greatest at bat in baseball history....sorry Maz.
RIP to a legend.
Possibly the greatest sports call of all time. Thank you, Vinny,
Vin Scully had an impeccable career thats all I have to say hes in the Rushmore of baseball great top 5 most important figures in baseball history
That was game 1 of the World Series. I might as well had been game 7 because it was over after that.
The greatest HR of ALL TIME
Never gets old i love this every year i watch it
Aqui en Mexico un comentarista de nombre Sony Alarcon que en paz descanse lo narro mas emocionante!!!
He got his pitch, great at bat
The home run replay alone doesn’t do justice to this at bat. It was quickly 0-2 , and Eck was nearly unstoppable in his prime. Amazing moment. As a Red Sox fan, I was thrilled. The A’s embarrassed the Sox in the ALCS.
I remember this like it was yesterday!
Wow!!!!!!
Good thing that “little nubber” went foul … one of my favourite at bats of all time .. my favourite of course is his ‘84 game 5 homer off goose gossage ..

No pitchers like that any more. Six innings and done, that's the modern starter.

88 straight scoreless innings! He was amazing!
I see Kirk Gibson 2-3 times a week at golf course. I cut fairways. Sometimes we chat. He usually plays alone, very early, an old warrior moving more slowly and deliberate. His golf swing is the same as his baseball swing. He is a heroic figure.
Still, the most memorable at bat of all. It had everything, including the best closer in the game.
I remember seeing this when I was 10 years old. Gibson never touched second base.
Great broacaster, great call. Kirk missed second base.
I was at this game.
Back when the world was working perfect
✌️⚾️✌️
Imagine if there was a pitch clock for this at bat?
Welcome the famous " Walk-off"
best
wow. 1980's baseball players look like they all belong in the blue oyster bar
have now heard this call by him a lot lately and its ok at best as I think drysdales call is much better and also have heard his other famous calls and again they are just ok but listening to this guys entire broadcast of some random baseball game is exceptional and during the 70's and 80's for as far as I can remember he was the best and it wasnt even close
They just don't make em like Gibby anymore..Go Tigers
I wonder who has that ball today?

Basically set the tone for the entire series. The call, the fact that Gibson could barely play and somehow did it (and then didn't for the remainder of the series), etc.
I love this player always like to me much when they come to the plate said do it Men and he did it
