the biggest criticism of mumble rap here is that it sounds all the same and "flows were different" but the lyrical guy sounds like every other eminem fast rap copy with the same flow

You know that person at your job who never cared or tried to do a good job? Those are mumble rappers. They wont get fired because we need people, but they won't quit because they dont actually have to do anything. Lazy. Then there's those of us that the shift relies on for success because we work hard for some reason when not doing it would be easier for us. I'm so glad I grew a little these past few years and noticed this. This guy really made the mumble rapper turn into a douchebag, but then the lyrical rapper was throwing all the insults and descrediting mumbler's success. While I still agree that mumble rap fucking sucks, it is another genre of rap that people capitalize on and honestly, there's no problem with that. There are still plenty of lyricists that still go around. Let people enjoy what they listen to. These lyricists just have to get off their high horses.

Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Migos, Yachti, Uzi, I can't get into any of those guys. Not because I don't understand them, but because they talk a lot and say nothing, have extremely generic flows, and wack generic trap beats. Mumble rap does exist, though. It's full of successful rappers that are either monotonous, have no idea how to enunciate their words, or both. You can say I'm parroting someone else's opinion, but that's not gonna change the fact that I came to those conclusions myself because I like to give things a chance. I won't fault you for assuming the opposite because you don't know me through a single comment, nor do I know you. As I mentioned before, though, while I hate mumble rap, I won't go discrediting their success just because I don't mess with it. It's not just "old heads" because even modern lyrical rappers talk down on mmodern mumble rappers. I personally wouldn't talk down on it because everyone has their taste in music. If you like what I think is trash, that's fine. If I like what you think is trash, that's fine too. Lyricals who talk trash on mumbles need to get off their high horse. Both subgenres can coexist.

People call Future a mumble rapper but you can still understand what he says and when you break down the lyrics to some of his songs like Codeine Crazy and Throw Away, you can see the clear difference in quality of those guys vs the hottest rappers out right now.

Most "mumble rappers" aren't even mumbling though. I feel like aside from maybe Thugger and Yachty, I can always understand what they're saying. Like people call Ski Mask The Slump God a mumble rapper and even Lil Pump but they're definitely articulate enough to be understood. It's just a dumb pejorative.

“Mumble” rap can still be very enjoyable, for example take Magnolia by Playboi Carti or Codeine Crazy by future. Codeine Crazy in particular has better lyricism than most rap songs despite future being a “mumble” rapper. Also, most people don’t want a mind altering lyrical experience every time they turn something on at parties🤷
