No joke, we were on the verge of lighting this game on fire because of how confusing the rulebook was, especially given how our buddy who owned the game had his cards organized. Which is to say, poorly. Then someone remembered: Rodney Smith will save us! Ten minutes later we were enjoying our game. Thanks as always Rodney!

Another excellent video, Mr Smith, thank you for this. I just have one question - why do people have difficulty with the word vintner? It's vint-NER but I'm hearing vin-TER often. Rahdo said it too. The vintners association here represent most of the pubs so they're quite important. I felt sure, Mr Smith, with your surname you'd have known your traditional artisan trades. Anyway, as I said great video keep up the top notch work and I'd like to add my name to seeing a Pep v Rodney playthrough of this.

I think it's because it's a word I almost never see, and when I do, I don't expect the extra N, so I don't see it. As you say, it's clearly vint-Ner.

people having to pay you if you have cards that unlock things for them makes me excited that is fun counterplay

I am surprised this game is not more popular on BGA. besides the tricky the Road filling mechanism mostly for the sake of triggering end of the game, this game is pretty easy to pick up.!

The cards have a nice, clean graphic design that is very appealing to me. Interesting how the backs of the cards give limited information about what might be on the front. Nice.

Thanks Rodney, this was very helpful. 6:46 and 6:55 I'm pretty sure you meant to say "like the Draft Phase", not "like the Draft Limit". I could be wrong. It's a little strange that you are 'building' villagers and not buildings.

Remember, when you start the build phase, you declare your limit at THAT moment, and that determines how many cards you can pick to build. Watching this part might be the best way of understanding how that works: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fqF5yMaTlrSegrQ.html

Excuse me i have a question, Can i place the card that i discarded to the top of the market card that already opened when i taking the basic villagers?, and if i can do that is it prevent the scoring market phase?

No, you can't do that.

This box is so much nicer. The german version just comes in a carton that is far to big and the cards can just fly around in there. Also the single player is missing. Still, great game and great explanation :)

Cartwright!

I have the PnP of this in black and white!

If the first player played something into their village on the first turn such as a Cartwright then the fourth player plays something that requires a Cartwright do they pay the first player? What about in reverse the first player plays something that requires a Cartwright but the fourth player has yet to go and hasnt yet played said Cartwright.

@@WatchItPlayed thanks for the reply. Yeah I have watched again and checked the rulebook again and it is now clear to me that villagers are played into a village in turn order. Meaning someone could end up paying money to a villager only added that round. Just felt strange that in a four player game with 48 cards in the road we were averaging about 6-7 turns meaning 1 or 2 people have more of an opportunity to be first to play into their village meaning they have more likelihood of putting a villager down that someone immediately had to pay in that same round with 1 or 2 players losing out on that opportunity as the game has ended. In our games this has correlated with winners but with only a handful of games under our belt may just be coincidence.

You must have practiced that box flip a lot. And recorded many failures XD

Alittle bit confused about the silver scoring.. as u have two of the symbols required would it not have been 6 (3 x2) plus 8 plus 9 ????

When we played the game the market was revealed after the draft phase but during the build phase a card was dropped on a space before or on the market card space in exchange for a basic card. Does that mean we can't do the market phase again for that round ???
