    It's a special paint they put on Amethyst to make them stronger so they don't brake during shipping, almost a concrete like paint

  • @jameswelch1054

    @jameswelch1054

    2 жыл бұрын

    I know many actually use a coating of concrete and then paint the concrete, on Amethyst. They don't just do that for shipping, the outside of the geodes, is not strong enough to support the weight of the amethyst inside, once the geode has been sawed open, therefore they must support it with a concrete coating, or it will crack all over. That has to be done even if you are not shipping the geode, and just using it as a display piece.

    I wish that shows was open to the public for everyone to visit. instead you have to be licensed to go to the show not a fan of that

    I looked it up and it said that you need a license for some shows, but most of them are open to the public, so you don't need to have a license for all of the shows.

    Dave, you can have natural citrine, or heat treated citrine, either way it is still called citrine. However, you should disclose it if you heat treated amethyst to turn it into citrine, just like you do with heat treated sapphires. Yellow quartz is citrine, even if heat treated. Chrysocolla, is a bluish variety of chalcedony, The green variety of chalcedony is called chrysoprase. The name is not based on region, blue chalcedony, comes from Australia, Africa, U.S.A., Mexico, etc ... I don't know why you think only the Australian variety is called chrysocolla? The very translucent high grade bluish/green chalcedony containing copper, is often called "gem silica", and that also comes from a few countries, not just one.

    Hiya Dave, hey....I'm a Cajun who used to live in a Swamp, hunting alligators for a living but shot them in the head with a thump, there's no crazy Cajun gunna hit them in the head with a stump. Lol O.....I used to wrestle alligators too, I wrestled them straight into my freezer. And that's no lies, everything I just told you is true. I hope you have a awesome blessed day. And never wrestle a hungry Cajun or a hungry gator, because you will lose! Cya! 😺🐟 out!

    I don't like a lot of the tacky minerals, like carved cookie cutter animals, like cats, and rhinos. That to me is not art, just poor taste, mass produced, objects, for old ladies. I also hate the dyed, synthetic, composite, type objects. All of those things like like "dollar store" objects. I don't get the appeal of "rock crystal" quartz, it is just so common. I don't mind it if they polish rock crystal, that is full of interesting inclusions, but seriously fake polished points? Even worse is on the channels, like Dan Hurd's, where they give ridiculous values to quartz crystals, like 35k for a single rock crystal, lol. Dave, please don't start naming your specimens. A few of the big mineral sellers have tried that recently, as a marketing ploy. They have been getting a lot of negative feedback on that, especially on their KZread channels. I think "Bluecapproductions" recently got into the specimen naming thing, but they got blasted in the comments on their KZread channel. They set the trends for the mineral world, but this time, because of the bad feedback, I think they will stop that, as quickly as they started it. Bluecap... filmed a preview of this Tucson show, with the high end mineral dealers. One dealer tried to call his mediocre "Malachite specimen" Rapunzel, as in the fable. He got "roasted" for that in the comments.
