I have never heard a young singer with such a rich voice, and can not at all imagine a more beautiful performance of Vilja. As this fantastic singer surprisingly closed her career, we can only respect her decision and hope it was the right one for her. And gratefully return, again and again, to the treasures she gave us here on KZread.

I have heard the version by Joan Sunderland sung long ago and I thought no one could parallel hers. But this is another great rendition which is difficult to compare. Kimmi has extraordinary talent. One of the best in the world with a great conductor Andre. Keep up the great works gem of Africa!

Joan Sunderland's voice is warmer-toned with softer edges. Kimmi's is cleaner (wrong word) with more-precise edges. I have NO idea what the song is supposed to represent/incite. So that is 2 renditions of the same song, & I enjoy both. My hat off to both exquisitely-voiced artists. Listening to Kimmi singing "Ave Maira" had me wonder what a duet of Kimmi with a warmer-voiced artiste would sound like. Them playing-off each other, their voices merging... would/should/could be heavenly!

Franz Lehar is, in my opinion, the most brilliant operetta artist in the 20th century. However, this performance of Vilja from "The Merry Widow" is wonderful.

Absolutely the best singer I've heard on Rieu's stage! Wonderful! Congratulations Kimmy! The way you expanded on that high note took my breath away!!!

Such a beautiful voice. So appreciated the opportunity to listen to such singing talent. A lovely woman. She deserved all the recognition. Hope all goes well for her career.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Where does André find such wonderful singers such as this with an amazing voice. Added to those wonderful sopranos such as Carmen, Carla and Mirusia, he and his JSO must be something very special!

Kimmy with such a wonderfully beautiful voice and her timing with Andre and the orchestra makes this an eternal classic........

Kimmy Skota takes the dynamics of the slow lines beyond the call of duty, and makes it look effortless. Bravissima!

The diamond found. She is truly blessed with a great talent may she use it for God's glory.

My Dad was a huge fan of 'The Merry Widow'. I'm finally beginning to realise why. Simply beautiful.

I've heard so many renditions of Vilja over the years, but this is the "gold standard". Nobody comes close to matching Kimmy's skill or emotion.

I remember this from the war time years 1939 =45, when it was on the steam radio from the Palm Court ,Bournemouth and I am still crying at 88 years old I think it was Ann Zeigler and Webster Booth in a duet Kimmy you have made my life come full circle thank you sweet heart.

Whenever I listen her voice in this sond it's like I'm in another world. if angels sing like this I will go there. Beautiful indeed.

It def isn’t! It has so many strange note changes! I just started singing this song and I had to memorize the song as a whole rather than small parts like normal. Or I would have been reaching for random displaced notes in several sections!

I am a 78-year-old and was lucky enough to grow up in Vienna, so I heard this song, one of my favourites many, many times. Even had the privilege to work on stage with many great stars in my time. But THIS is the vocal highlight of my life! I don't even know where to begin to express my gratitude for this performance. Kimmy, I know you are back in your homeland and don't perform much anymore, but we are forever grateful to you that you let us hear your voice even for a short time.

Wow an Angel is singing, what a Beautiful Voice

What floored me about this brilliant performance, apart from her utterly BEAUTIFUL voice and her soaring range, was her unbelievable control. I have never heard Vilja Song performed with that level of control by ANY other soprano.
