I loved that scene!

I loved every minute that English King got what he deserved to. Looking at Ivar, staring at him with satisfaction and smiling, you can tell he is kind of sadistic 😂

But if not, whilst I now love your ancestor, Harald Fine Hair, it has to be said that SO many of the great Icelandic Sagas follow the stories of families fleeing across the sea from Harald. Taking a bishop into battle with his army, what use is a Bishop in battle - apart from moving diagonally - its not like they are fighters

Blood Eagle was only mentioned in history a couple of times. I was generally reserved for treason and kings.

The trip from Norway to England by longboat only took 3-7 days.

Stevie, your reaction when you saw the whole army of vikings was priceless! :-O Have you noticed that when they charged towards Aelle especially Bjorn shouted "RAGNAAR!" - of course many others as well :) great reaction as always, but also an awesome episode! I thought it was great that they skipped the "battle" - guess the vikings just ran them over, easy peasy as Negan would say ^^ the next episode is even better, Vikings is truly one of the best series imo

If you look at this objectively, King Aella is not the bad guy here. The Vikings raided his land, killed and raped his people, and he did swear revenge on Ragnar and the vikings. To think of it in contemporary terms, imagine after 9/11, we got our hands on Bin Laden gave him a brutal death for revenge and then in return, other terrorists came to the US and sought a brutal revenge on the president. I know it's not apples to apples, but really, the vikings were the aggressive instigators from the beginning. That said, King Aella was a fucker. lol glad he is gone.

The one guy doing the ritual was Josh Donaldson! Hes in the MLB he was on my blue Jay's when he filmed this !!

I would suggest the first season of The Last Kingdom. If I remember you will get the battle scenes you are looking for.

I just finished all 4 seasons of The Last Kingdom, and you get a great battle scene in most episodes. Plus, it is a bit closer to actual history of The Great Heathen Army taking over Britain, and King Alfred fighting back as best he can/could/did. Sadly, The Last Kingdom is very prone to copyright strikes. I know of only 1 reactor who manages to to upload their reaction to KZread successfully. Patreon is the only way to go if Duo Reacts chooses to react to this show.

This was my favorite episode in the whole show! I couldn't wait for your reaction..

I found it interesting, the symbology of the owl with Lagertha, the owl is the guide guide to the underworld, to see in actual and spiritual darkness, to look through the darkness within and find a way through. The sons of Ragnar just gave Ælle a Red Bull. "It gives you wings" (Well, that's what they said until someone sued them because it didn't literally give you wings)

S+L: again, not too much to say. They did a great job on this show. The Great Heathen Army was indeed massive, and was motivated by revenge for Ragnar’s death. Being thrown into a snake pit was no fit death for a king, and all of Scandinavia wanted to punish England for the insult. And they did for over a decade. Aella’s death is only the start! And, as others have said, this is pretty much where legend becomes actual history. Vikings has reached the point where we actually know what happens. But don’t worry! The sons of Ragnar each have their own great deeds coming up. Björn and Ubba are personal faves!

Hi Steve & Lacy. I agree with several others commenters that “ The Last Kingdom” is the perfect show to follow up with. Vikings is visual spectacle and great loose historical perspective on the Vikings side. However The Last Kingdom has absolutely beautiful Story Telling, writing, and perspective from the Saxon and England conflicts. If you loved Vikings, Trust me you will love The Last Kingdom! 👍

My first girlfriend was an exchange student from Birmingham. We used to make each other dishes that did not exist in America/England. Emotionally, biscuits and gravy is pretty much our beans on toast: simple, hearty, bland fare dumped on toasted bread product. It’s nothing to write home about ... it IS home.

Why does aella deserve it tho? He actually dosent deserve any of this., ppl just think he deserve it cause they dont like him. Ragnar led the army and attackd, raped, enslaved and stoled from his lands and his knigdoms. He didnt do anything to them. He had all the reason to do whatever he did to raganar. Also the vikings destroy everything that is whatever they think is false gods. Just answer me one thing, whats the difference between these vikings and IS? Baiscally the religion, the rest is more of the same.

Your right... he likely didn't ACTUALLY deserve it... but I just didn't like him.. he was too cocky and over confident, and not taking the threat seriously... plus he went overboard in his torture of Ragnar... therefore I wanted to see him suffer LOL

You’re not wrong, Hypello. The raids were just as, if not more, brutal as anything IS gets up to. But those we call The Vikings were also great explorers, traders, and way ahead of other European countries in statecraft. Hell, they were way ahead just in personal grooming. LOL! But, really, it comes down to this: they have the best stories with the best characters during this time.

sex was not a big deal to the vikings sometimes sex is just sex in the case of Ragnar and asslag. lagertha feared she could not have children and ragnar was to have more sons so she felt she was being replaced thats the main reason she was pissed off

im happy they didnt show the battle. a battle like that just seems pointless to watch and took away time for the blood eagle

It really didn't take that many days for them to sail to England, 3-5 days on average. But that would be boring to watch aswell 😄
