I love the contrast between her and Ragnars story. “One day I would like to go back to being a farmer” - Lagertha “I wish I never left that farm” - Rangar Lagertha was saying it as a way of ending her chapter and that her fate was complete. She has many regrets but accepted them as part of her story and wanted to end it by being a farmer. Ragnars line shows how regretful he is. He wished he his story never happened and you can see how much he’s suffered and is still suffering.

yes but sadly it was needed. It was for the better. Thanks to Ragnar and his travels over seas made vikings see that raiding wasn't good. Trading was way forward. They made huge evolution in life after Ragnar made trips over seas happen. Sadly Ragnar got short stick of it.

The vulnerability her & Ragnar have with each other is brilliant. He never loved anyone like her & she was the same but her strength to walk away when she felt humiliated by him was humbling. If ever a man realised to late how good he’d had it till it was gone, it was Ragnar. Him sitting on the beach talking to Gyda brings tears to my eyes every time I see it

@@fatiguemei2965 I think she left him less because of the cheating, she "forgave" him for that, apart from the fact that she cheated on him at least once with his brother, I think she could even have accepted the child that arose from this affair. what she couldn't forgive him was that he didn't make a clear decision in favor of her and wanted to take a second wife and i can understand her for that. 🤔🤔🤷

Largetha is the embodiment of a true woman. Loyal, loving, beautiful inside and out, strong, ambitious. The actress did an incredible job.

The shows died with Ragnar. I don’t think Ivar or any of the sons have came close to saving the show. They’re all watered down versions off Ragnar. I hate it when they try to carry the same menacing characteristics of Ragnar or walk the fine line of genius & madness! Fimnel captured that balance of that craziness perfectly! He just had it. The sons don’t!

I'm certain the Valkyries themselves fought over the honor of being the one to escort Lagertha to Valhalla.

You best bet the Valkyrie would have fought over the honour to take Lagertha into valhalla to be honoured for eternity. Do not pretend to know our history and our faith.

Kathryn Winnick really embodied the whole character and LEGEND of Lagertha. Talk about the role of her life. Epic!

This scene depicted the best farewell that a child ever gave to a parent in a movie/series. Beautifully written, and brilliantly delivered by Bjorn. It always reminds me of my mother, who passed away a few years ago.

At the end when you hear her say "In my dreams we were always together" and as she turns sideways and puts her hand on Ragnar and they fade away together, that still hits me, so beautiful, so emotional, makes me want to watch season 1 again just to see them living together on the farm. They are differents. Carol is modern, tomboy, honest, thoughtful. Lagertha is classical, epic, feminine, bitter sweet, subtle. You can't compare the moon and the sun. And let's even stop to compare women icons. We need icons just like men, and none of them are questioned if they are enough iconic to be accepted. Carol and Lagertha are both awesome.

Dude I cried so damn hard when she passed. More then I ever have for any character. It is someone I'd want to be like in never giving up. Even now I tear up. I hope to one day write about a character as fierce and as loyal as her.

Lagerthas funeral was one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen. Probably the most from anything I can think of. And I've seen the ending of schindlers list. The scene where she is reclining Ragnar beneath the ice is so moving, it makes me cry EVERYTIME I watch it. Without fail!

I cried so hard when she died and during her funeral. Never have I cried over a death in a show. Not Ragnar's death. I never even cried over titanic...

When bjorn was talking about his mother ,I felt that deep inside as I am a mother of 2 strong boys...this show was everything!

Such brilliant portrayal of such a legendary character,Katheryn Winnick is definitely one among the best actress in the world.

I love how Lagertha's spirit found her way to Ragnars arms once again at the bottom of the lake.....loved it!! What a amazing series and such an array of top notch actors made this a story for the ages!!

Björn knew what it had taken for her to walk away from Ragnar. He had seen her pain. He had grown up watching her fight for the little she could get. He understood her most. Ragnar messed up big time when it came to Lagertha. Björn is a perfect example of dutiful sons. You can be a great son without being a mama’s boy

When I was a kid, long before the tv show about vikings I knew about:Ragnar his wife Lagerda, his son Björn Järnsida (ironside, king of island munsö here in Sweden) Knut den store (king of Danes/england) Leif Eriksson (explorer) and Rollo ruler of normandy, and ofc Olof Skötkonung which many today are related to in Sweden, former king of modern day sweden during viking age. Lagerda was a shieldmaiden who owned a bear as pet, married ragnar, had two sons and a daughter with him, the text from 1200 ad even says that they lost the name on the daughter- which is even more evidence they didnt just "make up stuff" even if all sources arnt true or probably true, but atleast this is what they had been told. They divorced later, and she remarried but killed her new husband at the wedding and became a jarl on her own. That is all we know about her. the show I think kind of treated her well. Also, in there is a Valhalla for women in viking religion, but ruled with Freja - but I couldnt see why these people never mixed and meet, between odens/odins hall and Freya/frejas. Btw in medieval times stories was told about Björn Järnsida ruling munsö, and places here in Sweden are named after him. At Munsö there is a large chieftain burial from viking age with a broken runestone near it. As modern historians says; It could be him, we will never know.

There was a time, before the series started, Lagertha was with Rollo und Ragnar at the same time in bed. At the end Lagertha wanted to be with Ragnar (we didn't know who is the father of Bjorn, one of them must be). Lagertha for herself didn't know who is the real father of Bjorn. Important is that Bjorn decided to be Ragnar's son and Rollo's nephew. Also, Ragnar wanted her to forgive him, for everything that hurt her. Ragnar came after 10 years and said Lagertha that he wished he had never left the farm. So Ragnar would never have met Aslaug, in that way.

@@just2vicious466 In consideration to the fate of his own folk, it's not wrong what Ragnar did (sailing west, become jarl and then king, attacking cities and making himself and his folk famous). Lagertha understands Ragnar's actions and of course she's happy about that what his man reached. At the end Ragnar apologized to Lagertha, because a man should and Lagertha forgives him. Ragnar never wanted to hurt her, as I said. At the end it doesn't matter. Now they are together, in Valhalla...

@Zombie Media Not all women, but shield-maiden are going to Valhalla and Lagertha was, is and will always be the greatest shield-maiden in history of Scandinavia.

I don’t even watch the show but I saw the episode she died in the other night and I was like “wow.....I wanna watch this.” This was beautiful and makes me wanna watch it more.

I never even watched the show and holy shit I’m missing out

I should not have watched this while sitting in the airport. The struggle to not turn into an emotional mess was hard. It’s very rare to come across a show that gets under your skin like this one. I am so sad it me over but grateful for the experience to watch these characters through their journey. Each part was made for them, I don’t think anyone else could have done better. ♥️

Her death was the only death that made tears come out of these eyes. Ragnar and Bjorns death where epic hers was just sad for some reason. Seeing her join Ragnar in Valhalla was the straw that broke the camels back.

She was a great character. A great tribute to her.

Aside from Daenerys, Lagertha is one my favorites. She's one of the reasons why Vikings is such an interesting story!

I watched this show like a year or two ago and somehow this popped back up in my feed. My lord, it took back. Her burial at sea scene is one of my favorite moments of cinematography ever. LOVED this show.

By far the greatest character and most difficult death to watch in the entire show

I’ve watched Vikings more times than I can remember. Lagertha’s death always makes me sob like a baby😭 The writers made you feel like you actually knew her, so that when her death came it felt real to the viewers. I loved this video. Thank you💙🙏🏽💙

I was already crying, but when Ubbe said "Farewell Lagertha, Queen of Kattegat, mother of Norway" I lost it and ugly cried for the rest of the episode +. I haven't been that affected by tv since Molly died on A Country Practice. Srsly.

Kathryn Winnick is an amazing actress and Lagertha is definitely my favourite from this show. Even though I stumbled across spoilers, her death scene still had me in bits. What a woman!!

Largatha reminds me to be fearless and unapologetic about who you are there is no glory in paying small, love fiercely....
