Fun fact , Ivars actor ( Alex Hogh ) actually auditioned for the short role of Sigurd. But because he was so good in the audition Hirst chose him to play Ivar the boneless instead

Ivar is who he is cause he had to use the mind without legs. I often see people write "imagine him with legs" he wouldn't be who he is. He's stronger as is. Like he says. "The mind, far better warrior than the sword." His legs made him who he is and he is dangerous. Love his character.

Ivar truly deserves to come out of this war victorious. Every struggle he's been through has only made him stronger

Why so many hate on Ivar when he wanted revenge for his mother? He wanted that revenge bad. Now he's a different man. When Hvitserk told him he killed her Ivar gave a nod like he forgot all about it. He's changed. He's the true Heir and Ragnar knew what he was about. He knew he'd kill everyone no matter who. Ragnar's dream of farming died a while back. Ragnar wanted war and he unleashed Ivar the Boneless unto the world. When Bjorn wanted revenge it was acceptable to so many. Why? Ivar the Boneless is the chosen one.

I only "hated" him after he burned all those innocent men,women, and children in season 5x16 I totally understood why he wanted to lagertha and enjoyed their battles but I 100% went towards Bjrons side after that episode. Ragnar was a vicious viking who waged war and killed people like the old man and the Asian girl but he never proclaimed himself to be a god and burned or hung anyone in khatteghat that didn't follow him devoutly.

I don't see it as Ragnar unleashing Ivar as some kind of weapon of mass destruction into the world, but rather he knew, or found out as he traveled with Ivar, that he was capable of achieving what he wanted the most before dying, which was getting revenge on Egbert and his kingdom. Despite that, I believe Ragnar never abandoned his dreams of farming and finding a place for his people to settle, because he was always a visionary, and knew that was the only sustainable way for the "vikings" to survive and prosper. As it has been said many times, each Ragnar son embodies an aspect of their father: Ubbe: His heart and love for his family and his people / Hvitserk: The will to fight and raid, and maybe also his curiosity / Sigurd: His acid tongue / Bjorn: His will to explore new places /Ivar: His intelligence and ability to be cold and strategic even in hard times. So, I think that none of his sons is actually as complex and great as his father, for they lack many aspects that made Ragnar loved by his people and also respected and feared by his enemies. Therefore, its pretty difficult to say who is "the true heir", as I think all of his sons, working together and for the same purpose, would actually be an unstoppable force which would keep and preserve Ragnar's legacy. Although Im not saying Ragnar was flawless, because as we know he made many mistakes, and so have his sons, but overall he had a kind of balance between his intelligence-cold thinking and his love-compassion. Considering that, is really unlikely for him to be like "fuck it" at the end of his life and bring down everything he had built by unleashing a psycopath murderer like Ivar. After all, Ivar was a means to an end, and he succesfully managed to complete that task, but now its different, for not even Ragnar could have forseen that Ivars attitude would have such an impact on the world around him, spliting his sons apart and causing such a damage to the "viking" people.

@@javiervallecillocampos6339 The only element Ragnar has proofen is a blindspot women. Ragnar knew his sons, and wanted them to work together and combine their individual strengths, but he forgot about Lagerthas wrath. She killed their sons mother and screwed Ragnars idea.

I've always being a fan of vulnerable, broken, bloody cunning villains with complex minds. And ivar? He's the definition of complex. I love it!

KsA azoz just because someone seems soft doesn’t mean they aren’t ruthless or shouldnt be feared. Nobody acts ruthless 24/7. Plus the kid is the heir of the Rus. Which would prove beneficial for when he actually inherits it.

I don't believe Ivar wanted revenge against Sigurd. He killed him in a moment of impulsive and uncontrollable rage. He says he didn't mean to kill him and that he regrets it and I believe him.

There's something in this character that touches me. He's so different I can understand his pain and it makes me sad. He's so right but sometimes he approaches things in the wrong way( burning the people). He's clever and there's something charming about him. I had the same feelings with Ragnar.

I’m not saying Ivar didn’t do some crazy shit but I’d go after someone too if they killed my mama. Also, the guy had to prove himself worthy far more than just carrying a name. Yes, becoming king went to his head but I’m pretty sure all the guy ever wanted was loyalty, to keep his spirituality, and to protect the ones he cared about. He was also a smart and fierce warrior. Where his legs failed, his other skills exceeded. I’m Team Ivar!

What a perfect character he has become!! From young and inexperienced to be humbled by defeat, then seeing he didn’t want to be like Oleg. He is now wise, but still crazy enough to be feared. He is just like Ragnar now.

My King, my favourite son of Ragnar. He so strong and misunderstood. Hes never been evil only ruthless and angry ...and in constant pain usually. Hes grown so much and calmed down. I hate how everyone was against him and said hes in the wrong for not being able to let his mothers murder go, any normal person would want justice and revenge. Was fine for viewers when Bjorn wanted it why? Because people disliked Aslaug, she was still his mother and just as close to him as Lagertha was to Bjorn, if not more considering Ivar spent most of his time indoors. I love him and understood him from day one. Never once thought he wanted to kill Ragnar when he returned like a lot of others did, he was the most loyal and respectful, just like Floki raised him to be. #TeamIvar❤ hope the brothers only grow closer this time instead of apart, or at least just be civil. This is Ivars show after Ragnar died, it wouldnt be watchable without Alex Hogh. Thank you for this great reaction to this complex character with incredible strength in the mind & upper body.

@just one man he actually didnt mean to kill him..Ivar is impulsively violent. Gets blinded by rage, if u rewatch the scene the actor shows it perfectly, he realises what hes done after hes already done it.

My absolute favourite character after Ragnar, the underdog rising above everyone and winning. #TeamIvar always.

I’m kind of happy how they presented Ivar as being a God. He thought he was all-powerful and couldn’t be stopped but when he had it taken all away from him it has changed him in to a much more mature person in season 6!

When Ragnar says " And I promise you my son, that one day the whole world will know and fear... Ivar the Boneless "... As he whispered " Ivar the Boneless " at 4.39... It gave me goosebumps.

Ivar is my favourite character and now you made another amazing video about him. This is epic, keep up the good work.

Ragnar also raised his sons VERY differently, to the point where he even seemed to be using Ivar, for his own grand plan, whatever that was.

Ivar is the only one who stay loyal to their father. He did everything he ask. He never turn his back on him or his faith.

I've love/hate relationship with this guy. He is extremely evil, but at the same time one of the most interesting characters on the show. Extremely intelligent, which is something he knows about himself and he uses it in his advantage to manipulative people in his sorroundings. He will go beyond anything to achieve his goal, even if it means to do the most ruthless thing, as he thinks the end goal justifies the means. He is a psychopath and shouldn't be worshiped in any way, let alone like a God, yet he always somehow finds a way to get a control of tough situations and make others his pawns. He reminds me of a lot of successful CEOs of our age, who are narcissistic and don't have any sympathy for people. It's all business and money to them, people are just numbers, just like to him common people are just pawns in his bloody and ruthless game. He reminds me a bit of Ragnar when he tries to achieve something and goes for it hard, but other than that he is nothing like Ragnar was, as for example Ragnar never treated his people like shit. He never forced anyone to worship him like a God and bend their will to him to do whatever he wants to do with them. He simply didn't control lives of anyone, people followed him, because they wanted and that's when you know the person is a true King. Ragnar was a true viking as well, as he always wanted to explore the world, travel, trade, make a better life for anyone, at least what concerns his people, otherwise of course he was also evil for invading and killing a lot of non-pagan people, we can't just ignore that fact and side of his story. Bjorn Ironside and Ubbe seem more like their father than Ivar does, Ivar is his own individual with a very dark and ill mind.

day Bjorn is just a kid that expects to get things without working hard. Ivar knows nothing lasts and you have to think all scenarios. Ubbe is just naive even after seeing Ragnar kill that slave.

I think they did very well to put that relationship between ivar and prince igor because they managed to get a part of ivar that was never seen but was there.

This was amazing to see the parallels of ivar and oleg with ragnar and ecbert. How ivar is to the prince what floki was to him those dynamic are something very hard to recreate but you captured them perfectly.

God this is the best Ivar the boneless tribute ever!!! Really did a wonderful job putting all of this together.

Before I ever started editing, I would watch this video over and over. That was over 2 years ago now. I think this might have been the video that was the catalyst for me to begin editing.
