I think Extra History put it best as to why monastery like Lindisfarne were prime targets for vikings: "Imagine if you will you're a bank robber and you come across a bank full of gold in the middle of nowhere. And instead of being defended by armed guards it's being defended by nerds in robes. That's just too juicy a target to pass up."

Yes but that show is extremely inaccurate. Good show. But a lot of events in the show happen like 100 years after it happened in the show and they make stuff up. Really innacurate.

793 AD - Viking raids in reality. 2019 AD - Pillager raids in Minecraft.

John Constantine no knerrir were a lot shorter and wider. They were also deeper and were used for travelling far, like to iceland, while longships were used more to travel along the coast.

Can I just add, these vikings are believed to have been from denmark, I know norwegians argue against it but they also claim rolo, to have raided Paris, and to have maintained the north sea empire by conquering denmark, and none are true. The 2 main reasons they are believed to have been from denmark is because denmark is the most likely of those countries to gain realization of England first due to their close proximity to mainland Europe and furthermore the ensuing raids came from Denmark, legitimizing the claim that they were from denmark as they almost certainly returned to denmark afterwards. In fact there is no tangible evidence that they came from norway, the stolen treasures cant even be traced back to norway in any way. Sorry but I'm stickler for facts, I had to say something.
