Ойын-сауық

As wildlife photographers, we rely on being able to keep a constant visual connection with our subjects. Decent binoculars are super important and play a major role when it comes to capturing that moment in time.
We're taking a look at the awesome Peregrine ED Binoculars by Viking Optical. Here's what they had to say about them:
"High performance binocular. The Extra low Dispersion glass used in lens construction together with the multicoating and phase coated prisms give bright and crystal clear images whatever the conditions. The binocular is finished in smooth rubber armour and is really comfortable to hold."

👍🏻 well presented. Its just like camera lenses isn’t it...quality glass shines through. I have had a few economy brands, then I bought a pair of Nikon 10x25 and they are so much brighter and sharper.

Just ordered the 10x42. Have a few decent bins already & many over the years so they will need to impress in some way but 610g for a 42mm is a good start. If they are better & they should be, than my little Nikon M7 10x30 (my only other 10x bin & both around the same price) then that will be good. If not, well..... to be continued.

I love mine. I’ve had many pairs, mostly cheapies, but these are so much clearer, brighter and feel more rugged. I might sound like a salesman for Viking but I’m really not. Just a fan of value for money and good quality. Let me know how you get on with yours mate.

@@SimonMcCabe Hi again. Just had 10 mins or so checking out this new Peregrine 10x42 and I'm happy. I found it hard to get a proper spec on the fov (field of view) but yesterday I found a review that said 6.7degs and this I am glad to report is true and it makes for a nice large view, basically the same 6.7 of my Monarch 10x30 but this Peregrine has more colour & it is very pleasant but I do also see the colour fringing though it's not disasterous but it is a slight minus point. Happily the rest of the view makes up for it. Plenty of detail reachable over the 8x bins I normally use though these 10x don't seem as sharp with the larger magnification but definitely more detail as you would hope. The focus is slightly spongy but I've seen much worse. It doesn't just lock onto a focus immediately but it's near enough. Otherwise I find nothing at all wrong with it so I'm assuming I got a good example as I had hoped and am relieved. I can see me enjoying being out and about with this. I'm pretty sure it's a keeper and if I like it already then I usually get to appreciate a good binocular more as I get rewarded with nice viewing. Glad to have this join the gang from my obsessive binocular hoarding. It is a bit nicer in colour and view than the smaller Monarch which I have had a few years now so it seems the coatings are getting better with time. It also seems pretty flat across the view and good to pretty much the edges. A nice large image. Now you'll have to get a pair to go with your 8x42 lol. Actually the 8x32 looks quite nice with a very wide angle view. I might consider that myself. So to sum up it's not wow that completely blows me away but it's definitely thank god I've got a very nice bin that I don't want to return and that works such that I can see I will be happy with it. Fix the CA some, sharpen the view with maybe a bit more contrast and stiffen up the focus and I would be going wow then though I'd probably need to pay double but this Peregrine is well good enough for me I think. It's definitely good and compares very well against a few of my other bins that I tried side by side. Previously I had been looking at the Hawke APO 10x42 at twice the price but maybe some other day for that. I think the 8x42 Peregrine would have to narrow a fov @ 7deg for what I like but I imagine what you do get for a view is very nice, sharp, contrasty & vivid. I do already have a nice 8x43 Hawke Sapphire hence why wasn't looking at another 8x. I think I guessed well this time. Seems plenty bright enough also. Nice big clean relaxed view. A very good competent bin & I'm quite fussy :) Oh and I should also say I find it very easy to use with the eyecups down (or two notches up) and I don't wear glass but I often use bins like that just to get a big wide view and this binocular is very easy just to pick up and get on the view without fuss plus nice and compact and not heavy. Lots of good stuff for sure. Happy days.

@@SimonMcCabe Just thought I would mention I did end up buying the 8x32 Perigrine even though I wasn't totally happy with the 10x42. Just got it and already I think I prefer it to the 10x42. Small and better dof and big wide view and not as much purple fringing. I think I'm going to be using this a lot. It definitely seems to show nicer colours over my old Kowa SV 8x32 which is still a good little bin but the Viking is nicer. The 10x42 is definitely better over distance at bringing things closer and larger but otherwise this 8x32 is easier to use and live with. Pleased.

Yes and some lower priced too. The RSPB shops normally have a good selection to play with. Viking make theirs too so trust in them I must (Yoda voice 😂). Viking also have a shop with other brands to compare.

They're nice little binoculars those, really good optics that don't need a 2nd mortgage to be able to buy. I had a chance to play with a pair up at Loch Faskally and was impressed with the image quality in lower light, weight and point-ability - ( they way they sit in the hand and come up to the face). They put my old Carl Zeiss Jena Octarem 8X50's to shame. Always had good service from Viking and I love my little spotting scope that I have from them.

Totally agree 😊 Good weight and proper good build quality too. The light they allow through is amazing and beats the socks of anything I’ve ever used.
