I remember seeing a proof of concept of this years ago. So cool to see that it's finally coming out. It's easily some of the most impressive technology I've seen in a game.

I mean, if you want to play similar stuff now there's The Witness or Superliminal. This game seems to be the love child of them 2 games. Wouldn't be surprised if John Blow has his fingers dipped in this one too!

I would say it's pretty cool but I don't know if it's really that impressive. It just cut-and-pastes a section of a .bsp file that's loaded in memory over whatever region you have the mouse pointed at and then applies a graphical filter to it. I'm not saying it wouldn't take time and patience to create as an effect but it's not exactly reinventing the wheel or anything.

@@timn9237 I actually just saw a great idea for how to make this work - have the placement mode be activated by the player closing one eye.

I can't describe the sense of well-being and awe I get from watching this... and that's not even the full game, just a trailer. Rarely am I as surprised as I am now. Undoubtedly incredible.

Just played the demo, it's honestly incredible how the dev was able to even get this to work! Truly mind-bending

I just played through the steam demo, and man the effect is so impressive! Lovely art style too.

This reminded me a lot of the F-Stop mechanics from the canceled Portal sequel prior to Portal 2.

I'm liking these puzzle games releasing. More interesting than some AAA games lately.

I love the concept and the art style!

Portal was also based on a game called Narbacular Drop. Never heard of F-stop but it does look intersting. It's got that backrooms kinda 70s office vibe. Can definitely see how that became Portal

It's not necessarily original, but it is pretty cool. If you want to check out similar games there's Superliminal for some similar puzzles, as well as the Witness for the same sort of aesthetic. There's also a game from years ago which was pretty cool, think it was just called Perspective.
