It's interesting to see the difference in approaches by someone who knows how to fix motherboards and someone who's happened to fix motherboards before.

The reason you were seeing 3V on the PCH inductor is because the output side of it wasn't connected. Not only does that mean the VRM controller sees 0V on its output (which makes it turn up the duty cycle to the max, desperately trying to bring the voltage up), but you were also measuring the unfiltered, high frequency AC of the switching node (since the filter caps are on the disconnected side of the inductor). The X570 chipset can easily pull 8-10W under load, so seeing it gulp down a couple amps at 1V isn't that surprising. There's a reason board makers put big great heatsinks on those ICs 😃 Also I wonder: Did you end up getting it to post with the 2200G or did you have to use a different CPU? If I remember this right, X570 boards don't support first gen Ryzen and the early APUs.

Yeah right, that explains the voltage very well, thank you! Never had worked before with X570 Chipsets, now i know why there are almost always activ cooled! I did not get it to boot with the 2200G. I should have used my 3000G, i think that one would be supported.

cool video. i’m not sure if you know but there is also a x570s chipset. those chipsets do not require an active cooler and thus would probably have a lower current draw or voltage.

ITE IT8795E acts as an embedded controller (like the "EC" temperature headers) and provides extra fan control and functionality.

When I saw that passive power consumption, I thought the PCH was done for, but somehow that is normal. I might need to recheck some of my repair boards..

You apparently are inside of russian forums where it's harder for foreigners to register and ask/get a boardview. Please always share a link.

Yes, thats where i get most of mine but its really hard to get into there, because they only accept crypto and its hard to trust anyone with that.

Interesting that the chipset sucks that much current, when all it does really is control. maybe they just use failed CPU,s as a chipset
