Realistically VN will be a middle income country for a little longer than 20 more years but that doesn’t mean life will be bad. The growth rates pre-2008 global recession won’t be coming back to the world. There won’t be any countries growing above 10% unless they find oil or they are super small like an island or city that somehow attracts a high number of tourists. You don’t need to be a high income country to live a good life. High income countries now have chronic loneliness and overworking issues. However with automation and AI living life in a middle income country in the future won’t be as bad as it is now

Why do leaders from China, the US, and the EU visit Vietnam? They must see something valuable in our country and hope for strategic and economic partnerships. Yes, Vietnam has its problems, as every country does, but I believe we will overcome them and have a bright future. We are aware of the threats from one particular country-a country that poses a challenge to the entire world. Only together can we face this threat.

Political corruptions and financial corruptions within the States is obvious here even for the people in Vietnam can see it. I am a bit concern as no foreign papers capture this, even the traffic cops take brides in like 99 in total of 100 cases they have and we were taking it too often and it become too normal for anyone in the country to fix it. Me myself studying in an international university which in Vietnam is mostly affordable for the wealthy families so I have a lot of friends are politicians’ children, I know that there is absolutely no position in the government, even a minor staff is not taking bribes and corrupted yet. Vietnam economy is growing but if you look closely, only the upper class, which is my family and other politician families are absorbing all the benefits.

Vietnam's corruption is well known, just not in the press. All international organizations with serious studies of corruption have Vietnam in the bottom tier in terms of government inefficiency and corruption.

I'm Vietnamese and live in Vietnam and see so many people struggle with their income compared to living cost, including housing. GDP per capita in Ho Chi Minh City, biggest city in Vietnam, is 4,284 USD and the price of apartment easily surpasses 80,000 USD. That means if they don't eat, pay anything from the income, they have to wait 18 years. And if they live as very simple persons, 1,000 USD is the disposable income, meaning they have to wait 80 years. Vietnam's Economy is growing fast? Maybe, but what's the point?

À. Vấn đề là người nhiều người VN bon chen, gốc ở quê nhưng cứ nhoi nhoi ra phố sống để mua nhà trong khi đất nhà phố có hạn. Và nên nhớ tỷ lệ sở hữu nhà đất ở VN bình quân cao hơn cả bên Mỹ và nhiều nước phát triển khác.... Nước ngoài họ cơ bản là thuê nhà mua căn hộ chung cư chứ tỷ lệ sở hữu đất là rất tốn kém. Còn chi phí ư?. Công nhân bình thường ở VN ngày nào cũng có thể uống bia ăn sáng với Phở, cafe và các loại đồ nhắm khác mà không phải lo lắng . Còn bát phở bên trời tây bao nhiêu So với thu nhập một người bình thường. GDP đầu người thấp thì vật giá thấp. Có tiền nhiều ở VN vẫn là sung sướng nhất. Cái chính còn là sự cởi mở, thân thiện của xã hội và sự nhân văn của đất nước đó.

Đừng có tin vào mấy chỉ số của vn vì cơ bản tiêu chí đánh giá khác nhau, ở vn đi bán rau dạo cũng được thống kê là có việc làm, có cái nhà tranh để ở thì cũng thống kê là có nhà ở, để được coi là hộ nghèo ở vn thì có mà phải nghèo ko thể tả nổi thì mới đc xếp vào. Chứ như top mấy nước phát triển bên châu âu, sống trong nhà trợ cấp tiện nghi gấp trăm lần mấy túp lều tranh ở vùng quê nghèo vn thì vẫn bị coi là ko sở hữu nhà, thu nhập 20-30k euro vẫn bị coi là nghèo, bởi tiêu chuẩn nghèo ở bên đấy khác tiêu chuẩn nghèo ở vn. Vietnamese people often express a sense of national pride and optimism. However, there appears to be a preference for external commentary that portrays the country in a positive light, even if it overlooks potential shortcomings. This is evident in the recent negative reactions to a video discussing the depreciation of the Vietnamese dong just months ago on this channel 😂😂.

Well it all depends if the products are mostly owned by local Vietnamese people or foreign owned. The problem with measuring GDP only does not take this factor into consideration. Similarly products that has been mostly made in China but is then finished off in Vietnam. Unless these figures are understood, we don’t really know Vietnam’s real economic growth. However, from local data, local businesses are not growing very well at all.

Theo dữ liệu của IMF năm 2000 GDP của Việt Nam là 39 tỷ $ đến 2023 là 433 tỷ $ . tôi đã thử tính toán với tốc độ tăng trưởng mỗi năm là 10% từ 39 tỷ $ sau 23 năm chỉ lên đk 349 tỷ $ . vậy bạn nghĩ tốc độ thực tế nó nhanh hơn hay chậm hơn 😂

To shed light to that question, one can look at the largest foreign company (by far) there, Samsung. Samsung is so large there that it accounts for 20% of Vietnam's export, where just over 50% of its smartphones are produced there. Here is the key point. The majority of the components are produced by local firms there. This is aside the R&D done there and the production at the Samsung factories. Look up: "215 local firms part of Samsung’s supply chain". As of June 2017, the localization rate had risen to 59% from 35% in 2014. The localization rate would be significant higher today. Samsung is a high technology company and provides an example of what local firms are capable of. Local industries there have advanced much in the past 15 years.

More than 400 Billion Mate

The GDP number does not show everything. People still lost their jobs. Companies were reducing workforce left and right. Many newly graduates could not find a job and had to work as Grabbike. There were thousands of small businesses closing down every month. They returned the rental properties and the landlord cannot find new tenants. Majority of Vietnam's GDP are contributed by FDI. Samsung alone contributed roughly 25 to 30% of GDP. Those money won't be 100% reinvested into Vietnam's economy. The population is aging quickly. They won't be able to sustain the growing rate for much longer.

Intel declined to invest more money in Vietnam because of excessive bureaucracy and unstable power supply. Tom Cook went to Vietnam and Indonesia, but he decided to invest money in Indonesia.

Vietnam recalculated their GDP once in a while. Many public sectors and vendors and small businesses did not pay the taxes correctly which lead to misscalculate the actual GDP

Bạn sai lầm, có rất nhiều các Tập đoàn lớn của rất nhiều quốc gia đầu tư ở Việt Nam. Trung Quốc không nằm ở top đầu(korea top 1), họ không thao túng được nền kinh tế của Việt Nam vì chúng tôi luôn đề phòng họ( 1978 thậm chí Việt Nam đã trục xuất người hoa vì vấn đề an ninh quốc gia) Điều bạn nói chỉ áp dụng ở một số quốc gia khác như Campuchia

To be fair, even with a growth rate of 20% for the Philippines and Vietnam, these two countries are about 20-30 years behind Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia in terms of wealth creation and distribution. This is because corruption is endemic here and most wealth creation for economic development does not translate to better quality of life for the man on the street because corrupted politicians and businessmen benefit from the current system.

How come this segment is not talking about a Vietnamese Real Estate Mai Lan Banking manipulations? This events does effect Vietnam growth and the video is actually not be factual to the overall broad dept of the situations. Also Vietnam has power source issue along with being the Chinese main resources of exporting Chinese product to the U.S under the new U.S tariff and trade barriers. BA, you aren't being honest with your investigation on the real growth on Vietnam.

I'm living right in one of the central districts of Saigon, the biggest city in Vietnam, and I laughed a lot when seeing foreigners hyping for Vietnam. Crumbling infrastructures, corruption to the core, ignorance knows no limit... The country is totally doomed. Look at the metro system of Saifon, after nearly 20 years, nothing, yes, NOTHING has been done. At the time when capital money was so cheap, they didn't manage to complete even a single line. Now, it's not that easy anymore. I just see it as a construction that will never be complete, and the incomplete line will just stay there forever, being a great symbol of how pathetic the country is.

@@thevulcan2011 No, I’m not surprised. GDP per capita is a meaningless measure. It’s just a number. Of course India’s gdp per capita ppp will be lower owing to its huge population. What’s more important and meaningful is the size of its economy and India is far ahead on both scales. Vietnam: $466 billion (nominal; 2024) Increase $1.559 trillion (PPP; 2024). India: $3.937 trillion (nominal; 2024 est.) $14.594 trillion (PPP; 2024 est.)

@@AndreImmabe gdp per capita is a derivative of gdp. Focus on growing your gdp and gdp per capita will automatically follow. Of course, it is necessary to take into account your population which is why population in a country like India needs to be strongly controlled, else, despite a growing gdp, your gdp per capita will erode .

Vietnam is at the turning point of the decade. We have shitty roads, incompetence province level leaders, health care is overstressed and corruption is blatant. But our culture is built upon perseverance, adaptation and unyielding. Vietnam Gorv has flushed out large contributors to corrruption while reconstructing the aftermath of COVID19. Structurly lower bureaucracy process with result oriented decisions at system administration. Vietnam society is at the boiling point of public outburst, the Governing party has to change its operation guidelines. When we are at the bottom the only way is up. We can change, adapting to be better.

As a Vietnamese person, I smiled when they pointed out ‘a good government’ as a reason for the development. I would say that because the government remained silent for more than 20 years, many good political proposals were approved. However, when the Vietnamese Communist government woke up, they arrested many anti-Communist individuals under the pretext of corruption, while ignoring Communist supporters despite their corruption. Investors should be careful when investing into my country, the government is gradually turning the country into a Chinese ally.
