In Vietnam, people don't normally use toilet paper. They have that little shower spray next to the toilet so you can clean yourself off. When I went to visit my extended family, I went to a supermarket and bought some toilet paper there. OMG, it is scented!! I love it.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but soft bed and hard bed is basically 1st/2nd class sleeper . it doesn't mean the bed is any harder really, just that you have less space since there are 6 instead of 4 beds. The thing to really avoid is hard Seat. you are basically travelling on a park bench
I did overnight from St. Petersburg to Moscow. It was straight out of the 1940s. But still nice. And they had a full meal (breakfast) for you and wool blankets and clean sheets. Cabins more spacious as well. This seemed doable, but not nice at all. The cockroaches would have sent me over the edge. I couldn't have slept.

i just did that train (Grand Express, Grand class cabin) about a month ago, both ways. the cabin was nice, nothing real special about it. the attendants spoke almost no english and translated with google translate on their phones, but were super friendly and helpful. overall it was a good time. i've also done the London to Edinburgh Caledonian Sleeper. about the same except for the no english part :)
The sheets are my worst nightmare! I'm so paranoid that I always travel with a small spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol to disinfect fabrics and surfaces! Thanks for sharing your amazing lives.
I bring a sleeping bag liner when I travel. It's great for cases like this. And for when a hostel doesn't provide sheets, or rents sheets to you.
I love that you guys include ALL your experiences, it really gives a sense of how a trip can ACTUALLY be and helps others anticipate what to expect! Truly the work of 'Adventurers'!
Do you guys ever get overwhelmed with the amount of traveling you do? I recently found your channel and have been binging your content. ❤️ I think if I traveled as often as the two of you I’d need more decompress downtime.
Keep on doing what you do guys! Love keeping up your travels and I get great inspiration from your vlogs!👍😊
Thanks for educating us. Hope you are feeling better.
Your job is your life, and you guys upload quality content year round. So, IMO, never feel sorry for taking a sick day. :)
The weather in Vietnam changes significantly from North to South. In the South, it's very very hot in this season, while you can feel cool and comfortable in the North
OMG Alison, please don't apologize for the way you look after a workout. LOL! 😁~Pam
I enjoy your honesty and how you show the reality of travel. I am enjoying seeing Viet Nam with you. I always look forward to your travel adventures!👍🤗
Glad you are feeling better! Thanks for sharing the overnight train trip and tips 😁
In the military we were told every sheet has four sides (as we were complaining). It seems your train company feels the same :)
Hope you’re feeling better soon! Keep up the great work guys x
I don't watch 90 second ads for just anyone, but I'll do it for you ;)
So glad we did the plane and not the overnight. We just did the train 2nd class seats Hanoi to Ninh Binh and back. 2.5 hrs
Wow wow wow those rock cliffs are STUNNING!
Glad you made it with no major hassles. Thanks!
Excellent video as usual. I hope you're feeling better Alison.
You guys are quirky. Love it!! Just subscribed.👍🏽😃
There’s a control in the cabin to turn the speaker off! I thought that train was so much nicer than the overnight trains in China. I always travel with a silk sleeping bag liner... life saver
These videos are so addictive, I can't stop watching and I have things to do! Keep up the great work!!!
I'm so glad you're feeling better, Allison! Eric, I enjoyed your video transitions and also when you hung out of the train window 😅 A little scary, but looked fun. Thanks for the tips at the end!
Best way to travel is to be able to sleep. Keep safe both of you.
Good to see and hear your feeling better Allison. Loved the video
Always look forward to the end of the week for another inspiring travel video to kick off the weekend, thanks guys!
I just found your channel and I LOVE IT! You're feeding the Sagittarius in me!
My wife and I went to Vietnam on our honeymoon. We loved Hoi An! I hope you enjoyed it too
We took the train from Hanoi to Saigon (36 hours) about 2 weeks ago. The short story is - our train hit and killed a rural villager, we got destroyed by bed bugs, the AC never got the cabin below 85 Fahrenheit, and our roommates trashed the room too. It was not the easiest couple of days! Also when our train hit the man, his body came to rest under our train car. We watched the engineers pull his mangled body out from under the train (it was very bad), set him on a tarp, hand him off to the other villagers with some paperwork, and 5 minutes after ending his life we were on our way. At the next stop, another worker hosed the blood off of the train car as the new passengers boarded...

Lol awesome I’m glad you covered the sleeping train ride👍❤️❤️great tips too 👍
Love your vlogs, living vicariously through you two ✌🏻♥️😀
I'm so sorry you got sick :( - You guys certainly are adventurous. I'm going to have to watch your video from your week on the MSC Seaside so I can feel better for you both, 'cause that was a helluva journey.
New subscriber. Can't believe I waited this long to subscribe. Great channel!
I can tell safety is a priority there ... the fire extinguishers on 10:22 were top notch ...
I took a sleeper train from Bangkok to Trang. I do recommend it snd your room is really deluxe. Our train was just seats that turned into upper and lower berths. I brought my own sheets as it were. A sarong I used as a seat and shawl as a blanket. I covered the pillow with one of my tee shirts. It was fine. The restrooms were a different issue. A hole in the floor you per over. And a hose to rinse yourself off with. So the floor was slippery. And with the train shaking I feared my foot would go down the potty hole. Lol. But it was fine cuz Trang was amazing. We went camping on a private island. Incredible. I rented a cabin. Not fancy but nice for our group to have a private shower. I’d go again in a heart beat. But remember to bring grippy shoes and my own TP for sure. And small towels or cloth napkins to dry my hands with cuz they don’t have those things there. Napkins are easier to wash our snd dry in the sink
Only just found this channel recently but how have you guys not got more subscribers the content and editing is all on point you clearly work hard I respect that
Thank you for great info. I’m interested in traveling from Ninh Binh to hoi an and your video comes in handy. Thanks again.
Goody a new video!! Always puts a smile on my face to see the two of you!! And the part about the makeup remover...you are too cute!! Thank you
Nice video! You seemed to handle all the inconveniences with a positive and cheery attitude (something I consider essential to traveling). That’s definitely an interesting way to travel!
I only watch this travel channel now because its genuine and refreshing. Your quality and camera work is fantastic, but a majority of us are here for you guys and your opinions. You guys do you!
I hope you’re ok now Alison! Bless you! 💗 but that train 🚞!! 😂😂 I did honestly laugh a couple of times when Eric described how it was 😂😬 I’m glad you got there in one piece and had the safety of your jackets and towels available to you, because like you there is no way I’d have put my head on that pillow 😂😂 looking forward to the next vlogs you guys. Hope you’re both ok and well!
What an awesome adventure! Indeed, days ill can be atrocious so take care of you always first. I lived in Tokyo years ago in the military and had a great time. Did lots of stuff. It's great that you shared your time and experience. I love it! Happy trails!
I really admire how y'all acknowledge the negatives but ALWAYS look at the positive side of the things you go through. 👌👌 Mood. ❤
You guys did the right thing when sleeping on a train. As always great quality vlog.
Also another tip is to be very wary of your stuff. I went on a sleeper train in thailand and woke up to find someone going through my backpack...so be careful if you go for the eye mask/ear plug option!
11:09 Back in the 1980s when I used to travel around Europe it was generally recommended that you packed a sleeping bag liner. I'm not sure if you can buy them any more, but it would be simply a case of asking somebody with a sewing machine to sew a large sheet into a sleeping bag liner and then use it wherever you are (check for roaches and scorpions before use!). A liner could be rolled up real small and takes up no room. I kinda like the fact that you guys are finding things a bit rough (not sure about the roaches though). When I was 19 this was how I found some parts of southern Europe and North Africa. I wouldn't fancy it now (I now like my hotels if I can afford them) but boy was it fun when we slummed it back then. Back then the basic survival kit was, sleeping bag liner, water purification tablets (tasted foul), malaria tablets and typhoid injections, bug spray, and some money sewn into the hem of some clothes. I guess as long as you are well prepared, you can survive anything.
You both are so cool! Landed on your channel while browsing. Love watching your videos. My husband and I are avid travelers too. Been to 60 countries and there is more on the list. Keep going with your videos.
Not the most luxurious guys! Great vid 😃👍🏼😘
Good to see you're feeling better allison❤
Officially hit the subscribe on this. Looking forward to seeing more of Vietnam since we heading there sometime this year. :)
Reminded me of overnight train travelling in India (no, seriously it did). Loved the ending and the tips. You always look beautiful, Allison!
Your expertise is showing 😀. The more you learn, the more we learn! I don know how you do it, but you both jobs plain keep getting better and better. Although I continue to caution about some colabs, I would definitely like to see another with "Flying The Nest." Wish I could have been able to remain a patron, but money just plain dried up for a while. Hope to get it fixed.
love the positive attitude that you both have ...
loved Vietnam, crossing the street in Saigon is a real adventure, with the millions of motor scooters
glad you guys still have the tempo napkins you bought in HK to use on the train!
I like it when you share your true opinions. Keep up the great works.
Your videos are so informative and relaxing to watch. If you guys are still in Hoi An, you should watch the Hoi An Memories Show, a unique show in Vietnam. This weekend and next Monday are Vietnam national holidays so some tourist spots can be very crowded. Hope you have fun in Vietnam.
I love your videos, I identify with your way of traveling, not like other youtubers who started like this and now that they are popular they have plenty of sponsors and they only show extravagant hotels, please don´t change!!!
trains are my favorite way to travel , thankyou for sharing
Thanks for sharing. I’m glad you all did the train ride so I don’t have to 😬😂. I was feeling so uncomfortable for you guys. Very brave!
I’m not sure if you’ve already taken Amtrak: America’s passenger train, if you have- great! If not, when you come back to the states, you should definitely start in California and take Amtrak’s California Zepher to Chicago. Or start east with the Capitol Limited or Cardinal to Chicago. That’s the hub, and you can branch out from there. I’ve traveled Amtrak 27 times, and it will be worth the money, the views, and you get clean sheets with fresh toilet paper. Also, there is a lounge car and dining car. It’s amazing. Happy Travels.

We were in Nashville, went to the station to see if we could catch a train to Memphis. We were told that the trains only go North/South, not East/ West. Erm!!. Never thought we would find a worse train service than the UK but we did. Ended up catching the Greyhound bus, which was full of junkies and bums, very scary.
Thanks for sharing great honest video
I just subscribed and it was deja vue hihi we took the train from Da nang to Ho Chi Minh in 2001 ..yes an experience .Went back to Vietnam in Jan part of Feb /20019 .. so I love your video
I loved this video! I just did this train ride from Ninh Binh zu Hué 2 weeks ago and had to grin at how similar my experience was! I was super happy to have taken a silk sleeping bag with my and an eye mask and ear plugs. I also got woken up all night by the announcements (I found out in the morning it can be just turned off hahah) and generally found it really disturbing to hear people scream around at all times of the day and night without any sense of quiet 😆. Anyways, really liked this video :)
Vietnamese just wake up early... waking up at 6am it's pretty normal for them 😭
You guys are some of our favourite travel vloggers!! Gives us a lot of inspiration for our future vlogs.
I've never been to a night train like this but it looks interesting and I would love to get that experience. Great vlog and greetings from germany! 😊🇩🇪

Loved this adventure, from the comfort of my chair sipping vino.I am now more of a Symphony of the Seas type of traveller.I look forward to all your adventures.
Thanks for making this video, I have been wondering what that train is like for a while now.
Haha! I traveled from Saigon to Hanoi a few years ago. Your trip by train made me glad I took a plane! I was getting motion sickness just watching you. 🤢 My favorite experience in Vietnam….. the food! 😍
Love watching your videos! I'm off to Vietnam in a few weeks and would like to know which app you used to book those train tickets, as I will also be utilizing the train to get from Hanoi to Ninh Binh.
I noticed the break in content and was worried, hope your feeling much better!
great info with the re-folding bed sheet for future reference hahaa.. but overall it was great experience, exceed the expectation
Lovely video guys. Great experience on the train. Good Advice as well. I’d take an MRE kit though! Love you guys! RgY TLv ✌️😎💙
I would have seen the roach and the used pillow and hopped right back off...lol. Kudos to you for sticking it out!
Looks beautiful!
Perfect timing. Knew hygiene might be an issue. Will be on an overnight train in Vietnam in May. Hope you're feeling better.
Love your videos
That was interesting :) As a teenager my parents and I (and sometimes also grandparents) used to travel by night trains. We used to put the car on the train as well. Mostly it was from my home country Belgium to the South of France, or to Spain. It's fun, but indeed, not easy to get some good sleep on those. Have to say though, the ones we went on were way nicer than on your trip. And that was some 30 years ago already.

Thank you so much @Endless Adventure for that “Sleeper Train 🚂 “ video. I always wanted to know what it was like to do that now you have satisfied my curiosity, Great job!!! BTW sharing a sleeper car must have been a weird experience to sleep with people you don’t know.
In 2008 we took an overnight 25 hour train ride from Beijing to Hong Kong. We had a private cabin with seats and two upper birth beds. But the best part was a private American style bathroom. The only problem was they only took Chinese currency and no credit cards. A great adventure but you miss too much stuck on the train.
I just love your videos ... great job ...
Ah, Hoi An, the place of my dreams. When in Hoi An try and locate Baby Mustard, a very nice restaurant out in the fields 2 miles to the northwest. It's a very nice place for lunch or dinner and they use produce from their own vegetable garden. And try and spend some time with the H'Mong Sisters right at the beach. We went there for an hour, but ended up to spend all day enjoying the sun, the drinks and the food.
Loved this. Learned no sleeping cars. Carry hand sanitizer, bathroom tissue, nose plugs, ear plugs, wear my sunglasses at night, carry a bug squasher, always have a rolled plastic rain poncho to cover stuff. Weren't you afraid bugs got into you luggage by the way?

Rebecca when we go on these hot country trips and return home where it is cold until May we just leave our luggage in the garage or the deck for a few days to let them bugs freeze.
Fun to take train . Have a good one
We did our first overnight train ride in Vietnam as well. It was definitely an experience, but we've been hooked on train travel ever since 😀 We travelled on hard sleepers and when we got to our cabin we found some people had snuck their partners in there and were sleeping two to a bed. There was a lot of chatting going on all night, so ear plugs are a great tip!
Holy crap, Tiger Beer:-) That was the beer of choice when I served during the war in '70-'72. The can has changed though. So cool.
I love these two. It's like watching Antoni Porowski and Lily Cole do travel vlogs. LOL.
Jeeze that train was rocking guys
You look beautiful anyway Ms.! Great video !
Got on later in the evening we got on a night train and there were little black specks on the pillow the last man who slept in my bunk. Even after we had the sheets changed by us it still creeped me out! Our younger Australians took the top bunks we got the bottom bunks. We are older.
You make me feel to travel.. stay safe you guys
Hope you are fully recovered. Take care!
Thanks for another wonderful vlog. Will Matt or Nikita meet up with you this year? I was just re-watching the Bali, Estonia and Oslo vlogs.... and thought they haven’t been seen in a while.
Hi there! Thanks for sharing. Love the experience. Where is this home stay by the rock cliffs? I'm planning a trip there soon & would love to stay there.
Ur videos inspire me to live to the fullest
Wow! Love the tips at the end. Always shot for a well travel day but who else doesnt also enjoy some little drama....lol j.k.
Traveling around Vietnam is no joke...you guys are tough!

It will be a lot safer than NYC subway. It’s not as advanced as bullet trains in Japan but it’s for sure Cleaner and Safer than those in NY
