There is a whole lot more traps the Vietcong made, that the US soldiers had to come across so there will be a second part to this video. Focusing on the explosive booby traps they created.

Other Viet Cong Traps : (Aren't even mention in the video) 1) Cartridge Trap : (A section of pipe, bamboo barrel or hole in timber with a tack nailed through the base upon which sits the cartridge with the round slightly above ground level.) 2) Grenade Trap : - These are placed along likely paths of travel with a two stakes embedded on both sides of the creek or stream with the grenade tied to one and the safety pin partially removed from the striker lever and tied by trip wire to the other stake. - Two cans are tied to trees either side of the track with the delay train and safety pins are removed and slide into the cans holding the striker levers in position. A trip wire is tied to both grenades. when the victim's foot pulls the trip wire the grenades are pulled from the cans causing instant detonation. Source : www.5rar.asn.au/weapons/boobytraps.htm 3) Rolling Spike Trap : (This trap has two rollers with pins sticking out. This means that you will get stung several times getting your leg in, and again, when pulling it out.) 4) Sticking Trap : (Step in this trap and your leg will get pierced.) 5) Clipping Armpit Trap : (Step in this trap and the wooden boards on either side begin to turn, sticking the pins straight into your leg. Furthermore, getting your leg out is going to be a problem.) 6) Window Trap : (This trap functions as it sounds, like a window. Actually, 2 windows with sharp pins in them that closes in on your leg if you walk into one.) 7) Folding Chair Trap: (This trap works exactly the same as an animal trap. When you step in it, your calves will be pierced with sharp pins from both sides in an instance.) 8) Swinging up Trap : (When you step in this trap, nothing immediately happens, however, in an attempt to pull your leg out, you will realize that that is not possible without pins sticking into your flesh.) 9) See Saw Trap : (When you step in this trap, the wooden structure would start to turn and hits you at your upper body with the sharp pins.) Source : travelfullstop.com/the-8-worst-vietcong-boobytraps-cu-chi-tunnels-vietnam/ 10) Gate Trap : (This is the gate trap. This consisted of a grenade set beneath a gate so that when a soldier went to open the gate the grenade would explode under the soldiers feet.) Source : waranalysisofvietnam.weebly.com/booby-traps.html 11) Rice Bag Bobby Trap : (String is attach to hand grenade inside rice bag. If soldier pull the string the hand grenade will explode). True, but I've also read accounts from vietcong soldiers of their fears as they endured American bombing runs as they went up the ho chi minhn trail, as well as dealing with lack of food, the weather and also the animals themselves. One account has an entire platoon being wiped out by a tiger. Also, yes markers were laid, but i wander how many vietcong soldiers knew how to look for them and walked into those traps themselves. Finally, don't think the Green berets or navy seals were sitting on their assets, plenty of ambushes were laid of the vietcong as well.

Would you do a video on boobytraps of ww2? Some soldiers would deliberately leave grenades for the enemy, but with fuses that blow up right when the pin is pulled. Another method used when abandoning some place would be to hook up explosives to a picture frame on a wall that is slightly askew, and generally officers being neat freaks would straighten out the picture only to get blown up. Bunch of different methods were used. Would be cool to see a video about from you.

Hard thing is, Ho Chi Minh was initially on very friendly terms with the USA, quoting even from some of their presidents. They wanted freedom from occupation (and Vietnam has been foreignly occupied by many countries even before France). But when France "wanted so badly its colony back" after the Japanese defeat and after WWII, the US decided to side with them instead of the Vietnamese. The rest is tragic history.
