From a fan in Monticello, just south of New Hebron, I agree with your assessment of the outcome of this incident. With the same reasoning, M. Brown would have access to everything in that patrol car if he had not been stopped. Law officers not only have an obligation to protect their own life but they have a responsibility to protect the public from what might happen if angry, untrained people are able to take control of the tools of that officer's trade.

The real bad thing about this is how the public manipulates the jurisdiction. I´m convinced that the law enforcement officers at the scene new more about the facts of the case than the public in front of the TV. Yet the police did not charge Zimmerman at first. They presented the facts to the DA who decided not to charge Zimmerman. He was only charged because of the public reactions that the media coverage caused. And I totally agree with Rock Anderson. If some guy jumps on me from behind that tells me he isn't interested in a "fair" fight. Plus, once I'm down and yelling for help and he still is beating me in the face that might make me think "this guy is trying to kill me." If that thought crosses my mind I'm going to do everything in my power to not die. So..if I had a gun on me I would use it just as pretty much everyone else probably would. Martin broke Zimmerman's nose. That's attempted murder. This case had nothing to do with race. It's purely self-defense. Guy defends himself against a black guy and it's racist meanwhile 3 blacks dudes break into a white woman's house rape her multiple times and set her on fire and that was classified as a random act of violence. Makes sense huh?

Nicholas Powell hey dumbass you don't get to start a fight with someone and then when they start kicking your ass kill them and claim self-defense. Zimmerman was the one who against orders got out of his car, pursued a young teenager in the middle of the night and provoked a fight, all because a kid was taking a shortcut home. I know what I'm talking about, I live in Florida and I watched the whole trial, I think the prosecutors went for the wrong charge but Zimmerman is guilty one hundred percent. not even saying he's racist saying he's a little Meek week motherfucker who thought he was going to be a badass provoked fight with a kid who showed him up and so his ego is hurt and the Cowardly way out was to shoot. I'm not saying that he should have went down for capital murder but it should have been a negligent homicide. I'm sorry but you can't call it defending yourself when you're the one who caused the entire situation, he started a conflict and then when his delusions of being some hero failed he shoot the person and claim self-defense sorry that's not self-defense, that's a bitch.

The stand your grown law states that if you had a chance to get away from the confrontation but you didn't then you are wrong. He had his chance to walk away(which was what travon was doing) but he still followed the kid and got into a fight. You are either poorly informed about what actually happened or you’re a racist who doesn’t like white people even those who are only half white. I’d never heard of a white hispanic until Zimmerman came along, no one ever called Obama a white black, of a white African American he was just black a kid I went to school with was half white half Mexican we never called him anything but a Mexican, someone who’s half black is considered black it’s only when the media wants to spread more hatred that the word white is used and emphasized to cast white people as the bad guy. Nothing Zimmerman did was immoral or illegal, he followed the law and defended himself as is his right, if you attack me and you get shot maybe you shouldn’t have attacked me, I don’t care what your color is or who you pray to, you will get shot!

Zimmerman is a world class idiot for sure, but his actions on that night were within the law. The law and individual rights has to apply to everyone like that. The truly sad part is that the case(which never should have happened) is probably the reason he is so mentally messed up today. Congratulations on a well thought out post.

Zimmerman was advised by police dispatcher not to follow treyvon, he still followed and confronted treyvon but lost to the young man then ended up shooting and killing him. First thing Zim should have done was just "observe" where trey is going then decide from there. The kid has not done anything wrong at all. After this fatal incident the city forbid volunteer neighborhood watch from carrying guns and pursuing suspects. Zimmerman was "armed", disobeyed police dispatcher, pursued, confronted, fought but lost and then took Treyvon's life was the result from of all Zim's mistakes.

Ted, Great Job! Sad, many cannot see the simple truth in this case, Martin is using deadly force on Zimmerman-period! Martin also escalated the force, and also was the initiator of the attack. The whole case is a self-defense incident. The case was brought to court by political pressure, not on it's own merit, it's a slam dunk "Not Guilty". Thank you for your accurate and intelligent point of view. Thanks again!

Zimmerman was a self appointed neighborhood watch officer that held no authority over who can or can't be in the area. Only thing he could do as a concerned citizen was call the cops about a stranger in the area. Citizen arrest only comes into play if you know the person committed a felony or if you see them committing a misdemeanor.

I also have a layered threat response. The first layer is situation awareness and avoidance. The second layer is non lethal o/c spray. Lethal force is the final layer. III. Just because you CAN stand your ground does not mean you SHOULD . Avoidance is the default response at any time.Break contact if at all possible to avoid escalation. IV. Neighborhood WATCH programs are just that, not armed patrols. I do no believe this was racially motivated at all. I think we had a dim wit wanna be hero, that probably could not pass the psychological exam to become a cop, in an altercation w/ a young , hot blooded man. Both idiots had something to prove, unfortunately, one idiot had a gun. MiF

No. His father's house was still a little farther away. Testimony given by his female friend corroborates that he was hiding on someone else's property before moving to confront Zimmerman while he still had his phone on. It is also interesting that her testimony stated that just prior to the fight, she heard Zimmerman through the phone speaker ask Trayvon Martin what he was doing in the neighborhood that night. A question like that would not qualify as a threat anywhere in the US if you were a stranger to the area. So why would Martin attack first without stating he didn't like being followed, or asking why he was being followed? What reason would he have to continue beating someone over a question like that after he was obviously down and not able to pose a fighting threat?

Mug I guess you're not going to let real facts or testimony sway your biased and incorrect ranting.. Unlike you, I actually watched the trial on You Tube as they became available daily as the trial proceeded and I read many of the transcripts. The trial proceedings are readily available and the transcripts are right there on that little thing called the internet, if you don't believe me. 1. He was not talking to a cop on the phone. It was a non-emergency dispatcher who has absolutely NO legal authority to "tell" anyone to do anything. The dispatcher confirmed this at the trial. 2.The recording of the call confirm that the non-LEO dispatcher asked Zimmerman "which way is he going?" to which Zimmerman way attempted to find. And then told Z, "You don.t need to do that", to which Z said "OK" and turned back toward his truck. Which is when the felony assault by Martin took place. 3. Zimmerman "obeyed" everything he was asked to do by the dispatcher and broke no laws that night as the 6 jurors who sat through all of the testimony decided. 4. Martin is the one who committed a felony by attacking and attempting to kill Zimmerman. Thankfully he is rotting in hell right now instead of prison, which is where he would be if he had succeeded. I'm simply amazed that some of those on the left keep repeating the lies that were clearly destroyed by physical facts at the trial, like the actual and entire recording, instead relying on bigotry and hate and belief in the biased media coverage which lost all credibility with their doctoring of the phone call. Anyone with half a brain who watched the trial or read the transcripts knows the facts and don't repeat lies and propoganda because we have the truth and the law on our side.

hoss Heimer 1. He was told by dispatch that KNOWS the law to not chase after Trayvon... Furthermore it does not matter if he was talking to a Best Buy customer service rep.. he broke the law when he chased a man while carrying a gun (a man that was breaking no laws btw) and all CCW permit holders (LIKE MYSELF and "Z") know that is against the law.. 2. Zimmerman was told @ 7:11:59 to stop chasing Trayvon.. And you said.. "Which is when the felony assault by Martin took place." False..Shot was reported @ 7:16:55.. and the scuffle was brief as to eye witness accounts. Also.. Zimmerman states that after losing sight of him and being told NOT to follow him by dispatch that he walked (pursued) 2 more sreets to see if he could "find an address".. bullshit*cough..... You sure you watched the trial?.. 3. Zimmerman obeyed nothing.. he broke every CCW law in this country and illegally pursued an individual breaking no laws and only did so BECAUSE he was CCW... 4. Trayvon committed no felony.. he was followed by a car @ walking speed for 2 minutes.. when fight or flight kicked in he (Trayvon) ran.. When further pursued by "Z" he defended himself and the man getting his ass kicked shot and killed him like a coward. I am simply amazed that you believe these are sentiments coming form someone on the "far left".. I couldn't be more conservative.. It is people like you that give us god loving law abiding Conservatives a bad name.. In closing.. judging by your reply.. you saw and heard exactly what you wanted to see and hear while watching the trial on youtube.. You are simply another example of an American that lacks the ability to CRITICALLY THINK...

There's obviously no point in trying to converse with a bigot who refuses to acknowledge the facts. Every lie you have told has been debunked by myself and others on this thread. I'm a lifetime CCW holder, and there are no such restrictions or "laws" in FL or any other state in the nation. Have a bad day

Jeremy Neff Ted is correct it was a 911 operator not a damn cop and chances are if a cop pulls your ass over you will probably start popping at the mouth and not listen so why should Zimmerman listen to a 911 operator.

The 911 operator did not tell Zimmerman to back off. The operator simply said "we don't need you to do that". Right after that, Zimmerman said "Ok" and stopped following. And there is no evidence in Zimmerman's past that he was racist. You need to get your facts straight.
