Rinoa's "You missed out on all the good things in life" line hits really, really hard when you are (were) a guarded, depressed, "antisocial" teen with no one to reach out to. It's been over 20 years and I still can't watch this scene without getting emotional.

私はこの曲はエンディングの印象がとても強く残っています ガーデンを見上げもう戻れない青春時代に思いを馳せるようなサイファーの笑顔 レインとの過去を回想するラグナの物憂げだけれど明るい表情 全ナンバリングをプレイしましたが私はFF8のエンディングこそ1番感動しました

この曲は作中ではリノアの母ジュリアの曲て扱いなんだけど 日本語訳を見るともう完全にそれなんよ ラグナは罪な男だよ

FF8が初めて泣いたゲームなんです、本当にこれを超えるラブストーリーはないですね

Yep, FFIX’s love story after this was just weak and disappointing (especially with Garnet ungratefully drugging and abandoning Zidane to run back home like a moron) X’s love story was good too though.

In my opinion FFX has the best love story. But FF8 is high up there as well

子供の頃はラブストーリーは小っ恥ずかしかったけど改めてみるとほんと良い。 すぐに無線を切って、リノアが安心するって言ってた触れ合いを自分からするスコールも成長してるのが分かる。 曲も合わせて見入って聞き入っちゃった

Eyes on me is the magnum opus of Uematsu's, in my opinion. No other FF song makes me emotional and touched as much as this

This song proof that the PlayStation's audio system made Square's decision to leave Nintendo for Sony solidified (for better or worse as the decades have passed) Lore-wise, it's one of the most sorrowful songs in the entire franchise. Fate kept them apart, and while they did move on, it's obvious Julia couldn't get past her love for Laguna, even as she married a well-respected general and bore him a daughter. As she sings, he had eyes on her, and she had hers on him.

FFwikiより引用 1999年3月10号のVジャンプ増刊で、植松伸夫氏がフェイ・ウォン氏を起用した経緯を語っていた。 「Eyes On Me」を誰に歌ってもらうかを決めるため、 CDを何十枚も集めて１曲ずつ聞いていたが、なかなか決定に至らなかった。 そんな状況で、山積みになっているCDの中から1枚かけて聞いてみたところ、 スタッフ皆が「おっ・・・これは」と感じたのがフェイ・ウォン氏だったらしい。 植松氏は彼女のことを知らずそれまで歌も聞いたことがなかったが、 熱烈なファンであったシナリオ担当の野島一成氏が彼女のCDを置いていたのがきっかけになったとか。

シリーズの中でこの作品が、当時１番ハマって何回もプレイしたなー。 フィギュアやネックレスも買ったり…懐かしい～！ 世間からは滅茶苦茶酷評を受けた作品なのは悲しかったけど、ホント大好きだったわ。

Probably the most amazing song a Final Fantasy game ever had. But its in the end that this song really breaks me. Even though the game has no dub, you can almost hear that "I'm home" from Laguna at the end......😭

Love Faye’s version, however Kanon topped everyone else.

So anyways, not everyone thinks like you do! FF8 has always been weird to me, looking back. I always thought it had really bad character development, and reads like a girlish, fanfic. I cannot get myself to play it again. Don't lie, ff8 would be the embarrassing game you would never want to tell your friends about, if it wasn't a Square Soft title with new tech on it! Squall goes from uninterested introvert to I'M GOING TO CARRY THE PRETTY, COMOTOSE NEW GIRL ON MAH BACK ACROSS THE WORLD! So, yeah... very "Twilight" Like and too romantic for a game marketed for 8-10yo.

PS1時代はほんとイベントゲーで問題ないよ、FFは。スーファミ時代まではリアタイしないでやった一つ下の世代だからあまり面白いとは思わなかった。
