Still one the most incredible final boss themes in the series ever in due to being almost eighteen minutes long and definitely building the sense of tension as you defeat far more powerful versions of the Warring Triad and then face the madman himself. Uematsu never ceases to amaze.

Uematsu has gone on record calling FF6 one of his greatest works and his magnum opus. This final boss theme being made up of 4 movements and the game’s own opening theme is the proof to such a claim.

Didnt he say this at the time of FFVI? He also said FFIX's ost was his magnum opus also at the time of that games release

It isn't just the fact that this is Uematsu's magnum opus. The SNES/SFC had a very minimal amount of space for the soundchip, a whopping 64 kilobytes of SRAM. KILOBYTES. Not Megabytes. It is STAGGERINGLY difficult to make even one composition fit in that amount of space, let alone one that's seventeen minutes long, and 100 others to boot.

スーファミは頑張れば歌もつけれたからね。テイルズシリーズの第1作目がスーファミにも関わらずオープニングには歌がついてます。

妖星乱舞は未だにずっと聴いています。ラスボスまで来たらようやくこの曲を聴ける！と思いながらやっていました！第1楽章から第4楽章まで本当に良い曲でどれも記憶に鮮明に残っています。この曲を投稿してくださり本当にありがとうございます。FF6は神ゲーです。

まず、ラスボス戦に予兆が流れて、そこからケフカが「命…　夢…　希望…、どこから来て どこへ行く？そんなものは…　この私が破壊する‼︎」と言って、戦闘するのがいいですね！ ケフカ自体はFFシリーズのラスボスの中でかなり弱いほうに僕は感じます！

ラストバトルはどのシリーズでも壮大で一言で表せれない、聞くたびに本当に植松さんってすげぇなって思う

世界崩壊から仲間を探し、全員で三闘神、そしてケフカと雌雄を決する 全てが繋がっていて自分の気持ちがクライマックスに向けてピークに来ているからこそ、妖星乱舞第4楽章で舞い降りたケフカは本当に神々しかった 本当最高です✨

Just beat Kefka for the first time a couple days ago on the Pixel Remaster. This music is so good it made me regret having my characters be so strong because I wasn't able to listen to each Movement through to completion, though Terra was the one to deal the Final blow so I suppose I'll take that as consolation.

Beat the game yesterday I got told a lot about the final boss song for this game and yeah it was really good I loved it

Since there have been reports of a Final Fantasy 6 remake within Square Enix that the developers want to do this, I do wonder if they might bring in Uematsu back in to supervise a new composer on this work, if it might get expanded with some new themes to fill in the repeats (or remove the repeats and do something new with it) on each movement here, I feel that is the only thing that brings down the whole work a bit, at the time it was hardware limitations when the original game was made but feel the work could be reworked a bit to still sound faithful to the amazing original to sound like a true neo-classical music piece that rivals Johann Sebastian Bach.

If they ever remake FFVI, I want Square to record a whole new version of the soundtrack, with Uematsu directing a full orchestra and him playing all the organ parts (that are often butchered on live orchestral performances). I wouldn't mind a new composer re-arranging tracks and make them longer, but All the OST's original themes need to be there, as they are all important in their own way. But I think writing whole new tracks should be out of the question. You wouldn't ask a composer to write new parts to Mozart's requiem, or Beethoven's 9th, it would be sacrilegious. Same thing here. I really hope those remake rumors are true, though !

YesやPink FLoydやKing CrimsonやEL&P、プログレを知った後に「妖星乱舞」はじめ往年のレトロゲーBGMを聴くとプログレ以外の何者でもないなって思う笑　植松氏自身が「プログレ博士」と名乗るのも納得の楽曲。 After learning about Prog Rock (Yes, Pink FLoyd, King Crimson, EL&P), when I listen to "Yosei Ranbu" and other retro-game BGM from the past, I think it's nothing but Prog Rock. No wonder Uematsu himself calls himself "Dr. Prog Rock".

Ⅴ以降はユーザビリティ重視でラスボス到達させる頃には味方が強過ぎて最適解選ぶと音楽堪能出来ないんですよね Ⅴの時はアホな子供だったんでネオエクスデスとかいうクソザコと死闘を繰り広げてメチャクチャ印象残ってますけど リマスター版やって「えっ？もう死んじゃうの？」って拍子抜けした

「こころないてんし」がウザかったけれど、レベルを上げすぎていたのか楽に倒せた記憶があるな。FF4、5辺りのまでのラスボスは初見全滅コースで「こんなん倒せるかぁ！」な記憶もあるw

この曲好きなんだけど、たまにオーケストラでやってるやつ第１楽章から第４楽章全部やらずに端折ってるやつあるのが本当に気に入らない。 大変かも知れないけど、第1楽章から第４楽章までやってこその曲だと思ってるので、今後もしオーケストラでやる場合は端折らずやって欲しいです。
