Our reviewer for the RIBZ took them on a caving tour and they came in handy, not riding up while crawling around in a cave. Your best option is to contact RIBZ and see what their return policy is and give them a try. Especially if you measure less than 63 inches. Good luck.

@rwp I measured out the bottom webbing and pocket setup and the maximum it can be opened is 63 inches on the large size. I have to point out that these DO NOT sit at the waist, but rather hug the lower rib cage.

@dunfamalb The straps are not distracting at all when wearing a backpack. The RIBZ are designed well IMO to work well with a backpack I can hardly tell I've got them on while wearing a backpack.

Thanks, I'm torn between this and the Kifaru Koala or Koala KU at several times the price. I want to carry my pistol and other items I need handy in it. But I'm a big guy, my gut might get in the way.

What is the Max waist size? The website says 44 , but the straps look long.
