    When you flipped the piece of "open-cell" insulation over and mentioned it was like a sponge absorbing water, you made the best explanation of two "different" but similar products.... explainable. Excellent.

    Hi , I have a double layer plastic wall on my 9.4ft long x 55" wide x 21" height dinghy . It is built like a kayak . The plastic flex when we walk in it . It flex riding in the water too . Can I use the close cell insulation to filled the hull to add strength and also keep it sink proof too or does it require marine type foam for this purpose ? I believe the weight of this foam added should not be more than 5lb. to completely filled this boat . Would this be the best idea to do or NOT ? ..... HELP ... Thanks for your reply greatly .

    What's "R-value"?

  • @SaveGreenHere

    @SaveGreenHere

    4 жыл бұрын

    R-Value is an insulating material's resistance to conductive heat flow is measured or rated in terms of its thermal resistance or R-value -- the higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. The R-value depends on the type of insulation, its thickness, and its density.

    So if I spray open cell on my roof deck I don't need to put up baffles and vent the soffit? What if they have a ridge line vent? Can I spray that with foam?

  • @SaveGreenHere

    Spray over all ridge vents, and all soffits. You can cover with plastic visqueen before foam spray. You want the attic to be very tight, or you will have humidity and mold issues. Talk to a contractor that knows what they are doing.

    I recently had open cell installed im my attic. I was told it was better to combat moisture. Your bideo, however says tjat it absorbs water. Did I get the wrong thing? Also, I was told that the open cell should seal up gaps and help keep rodents out. However, that hasn't been the case. Only two days after installation, my rodents appear to have chewed through. Was I given bad information, and would closed cell have stopped rodents? Thank you

  • @SaveGreenHere

    @SaveGreenHere

    Don't know if closed cell would have stopped rodents from chewing. They chew through wood anyway! But on the type, it depends where it's applied, how it's applied, and what climate you live in. Underspraying, and overspraying is seen ALOT in that industry. Did you check installer's reviews, or get multiple quotes?
