Video Game Tat 10: Digital Prestige Edition

Ойын-сауық

Live! Cambridge UK! www.universe.com/events/cambr...
Live! Norwich UK! norwichgamesfestival.ticketso...
Video games are becoming more and more digital only. Let's go back to when you could buy insanely expensive versions with a load of weird tat included!
We've got: Call of Duty and a stick camera! Wolfenstein and a doll! Heroes of Might and Magic and some lovely tarot cards (and a bad t-shirt)! And some more interesting merchandise, like Street Fighter figures and a replica Space Invaders machine.

Terror Billy is still one of the coolest collector’s editions I’ve seen. It’s so nice when the trinket has some kind of utility and not totally static like a statue. Especially impressive given it’s the only piece of physical merchandise that the Wolfenstein reboot has.

Metal Gear Solid 'Shadow Moses' cologne is described as having a unique scent inspired by the game's iconic Shadow Moses Island setting. It opens with notes of freshly picked mushrooms and forest soil, evolving into a heart enriched with aromatic hints of myrrh, fir balsam, and patchouli. The base notes include oakmoss, cedarwood, amber, and musk, creating an earthy and woodsy fragrance. The cologne aims to transport wearers to the captivating landscape of the game through its complex blend of natural and musky scents.

I had that Heroes of Might and magic special edition! My dad bought it for wee little me from Currys in around 2008, they had a huge pile of these sitting around and it was heavily discounted to about the price of a standard game. It was my first exposure to the series and I really enjoyed all the little trinkets and would always reference the poster for what units were. Ended up playing through all the heroes games and had a good time.

I was imagining them saying "nooooo...." but same idea. But not really, apparently you can still buy them new for £9. Too many people get the idea that things designed and sold to be "collectable" means they'll be rare and worth a lot. When it's usually the complete opposite- they've been mass-produced and sold in their millions, and lots of them will have been instantly squirrelled away to keep them in pristine condition... which ironically means examples in pristine condition will be worth very little. I mean, the fact that Ashens got that "Call of Duty" pack for a fraction of its original price essentially proves it. Late 70s Star Wars toys in their original packaging are only worth so much *because* so few of them survived in that condition despite being mass-produced- most of them were bought by or for kids who took them out and *played* with them. Late 90s Star Wars prequel toys aren't, because countless people bought them thinking the same would happen... so it didn't. I mean, if people like collecting that stuff, that's fine. But your average fanboy is unlikely to get rich off it.

Hey Ashens, I dont think you do the "eating/drink old items" anymore. With that said I have six cans of a regional US soda called Moxie that are ~10 years old. They're in excellent condition from being stored in a climate controlled space. The flavor is.... unique. I would describe it as a slightly bitter bubblegum, others say its tastes medicinal. It's polarizing with people either loving it (me), despising it, or thinking its fine. I'd gladly donate them to the channel if you're interested.

The very flat and angular look of the spinning Ryu Monstrosity, with it's one fully formed arm had real ‚Trogdor's one beefy arm' energy.

As someone who has spent far too much money on "Collector's Editions," I find these incredibly entertaining and somewhat nostalgic.

i'm not gonna lie, i spent most of the wolfenstein part of the video having an existential crisis after ashens exclaimed that 2017 was 7 years ago.

Good you're back, Ashens! I'm wondering if you will do sequel to your "Toys from TV ads" video from 5 years ago. Theres plenty more you could cover, including the 2 new Argos mascots (even though they were a thing before the ads), and plenty more! Hope you do more lovely, funny videos soon.

That thing you took off the usb cable is a ferrite bead. It's used to stop a cable becoming a antenna and introducing noise into a cable.

Ditching the theme of the video and then changing the camera angle is genuinely so funny, and I love the idea that Space Invaders is somehow apocryphal😂 Ten out of ten episode, good vibes

9:40 - you're spot on, Stuart. That was almost exactly the expression I was wearing last month when we were told the mice that had eaten the wiring in our motorhome had done such a thorough job it was a write off. Bloody rodents.

I think the "cable extender" thing you removed is actually something used to filter out interference for data transmission by cable.. the original nintendo 64 controller had those too.
