Just incase anyone wanted to know. They are actually for engineers and ppl in labs that work on electronics, like in cellphone factories they use them to keep parts clean from finger prints and oils etc. Gpu testing facilities use them a lot also.

i had to get some finger sleeves for my broken finger, in place of wrapping it w coban everyday i would slip on a finger sleeve that kept my finger compressed to cause less pain and discomfort

That seems like a good idea, but the reality is that as a toddler with a screwdriver, I would have been able to easily open the caps. Source: I have a vague memory of being a toddler with a screwdriver who figured out how to pop open screw covers. Yes, I took all kinds of things apart as a small child.

The finger cots are used for things like watchmaking where you need the dexterity but don't want to contaminate the small parts with finger oils etc

Fun fact, As someone who paints miniatures, those finger sleeves are pretty useful. I usually cut them from a rubber glove but it allows me to brace my brush hand against the model without rubbing the paint while also freeing the rest of my hand to control the brush without an annoying glove getting in the way. I usually only do it when I need extreme precision and usually only for higher end competition pieces.

@@ExaltedwithFail It's not the rubbing that damages the paint layer specifically, the natural oils from bare skin can break down the acrylic before it's fully cured and even if it is fully cured if you're working with very thin glazes of paint for blending/detail work. Even if the paint layer isn't fugitive a build up of oils on the surface can stop later layers of paint bonding properly. I tend to use latex finger cots rather than something fabric like those ones because the added grips helps even more with stability

It was a pretty serious thing, my wife worked at Walmart and they had empty shelves for months. As soon as a shipment came in people were literally ripping the pallets open to grab as many as they could get. Paper towels were also flying off the shelves.

When I was a kid my swing set had those screw caps all over, meant to prevent kids from catching their clothing or skin on protruding hardware. Of course for us kids the fun was picking and prying at them to get them open. They also held moisture so the screw and bolt heads could get nice and rusty.

@@EmeraldHill-vo1cs Those are made from silicone and are used instead of a bandaid (mostly in the food industry) These look like they’re made from neoprene and are mostly used to put over a bandaid. Neoprene or fabric finger sleeves won’t get as moist as the silicone sleeves and can be used for longer.

The screw caps can be used for "anti-ligature". In psychiatric hospitals where patients are likely to commit self-harm you put things like the screw caps on to keep patients from unscrewing things. I did an install in a juvenile detention facility and we had to put similar caps over all the fasteners because the "inmates"(?) would do anything to get at something sharp like a screw.

The "fold" screw caps are to hide the screw on front number plates. You get yellow for back plates.

They protect against galvanic corrosion of stainless steel or carbon steel screws against aluminum license plates (or similar)

The minute I saw the first item I’ve dashed to the comments to share some random information about the saw that someone somewhere may find interesting… I was a surgical instrument technician up until last year and we still regularly use those kinds of saws In surgery today, the only difference is that the handles of obviously metal. In surgery this type of saw is called a Gigli Saw and are mainly used for amputation but they were often included in other orthopaedic sets too. Anyway, there’s something someone may find interesting!

When Turn Back premiers at the Cannes film festival Ashens can wear that beautiful Johnny Hallyday shirt to impress the locals.

The toilet paper thing happened in every country, here in Australia people were buying all of it and selling it privately, I had to go to the shop every day in hopes I could find a 4 pack so we could have a poo at home and be able to wipe our bums, the same thing happened with basic household items such as rice and beef mince

here in Denmark the shortage went on for long after 2020 because they had trouble getting stuff delivered (because we apparently no longer make TP in this country), so it became a matter of "better buy TP while they have it", because there could be several weeks where it was impossible to get hold of any

The Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020 REALLY hit hard here in Japan. There was a rumor that the Chinese (it's always the Chinese) were using the same pulp to make face masks (?). You could not find TP in stores for literal weeks. This is bad for the average person, but a NIGHTMARE for a person with a j-pouch. I knew my fiancee's parents approved of me when they bought me toilet paper for my birthday in the middle of the crisis.

i actually have two of those keychain music boxes. one in clear and another in pink. they play the same tune but they are still cute and i like to collect all sorts of keychains!

Those literally are socks for your fingers. And they're used for when you're working with small or delicate things that you don't want to get your fingerprints or skin oils all over, but don't need to wear full gloves. The Wristwatch Revival guy wears rubber versions while working on watches to keep fingerprints off the crystals, and to keep his skin oils out of the watch movements.

The US also had a major toilet paper panic buy, where the toilet paper was quickly sold out, then the napkins, and the paper towel. Stores started posting signs that a person can only buy 2 packages of toilet paper at a time (packages meaning a package of multiple roles). Didn't help, people still did whatever they could to buy as much toilet paper as possible. Some stores stopped selling them just because they were tired of the hysterical panic buying people, and I can't say I blame them. The two weirdest things I saw was one guy, looking somewhat disheveled and hungover, someone who looks like you might not want to trust with your wallet, went to the area with the coffee. He then plunged his arm into the back of the shelf of the large containers of coffee, and shoveled them all into his cart, then went to the next and did the same, and the next, emptying all the shelves into his cart. Another was a mother and 3 kids, where the mother had a cart bulging, overflowing, with pasta and pasta sauce. She bought nothing else, just an entire cart full of pasta and pasta sauce. I'm sure those kids had some serious malnutrition by the end of the pandemic😅

I use finger cots in my silversmithing. When polishing small pieces with a rotary tool the metal gets very hot, and the finger cots protect me from burns.

The toliet paper crisis thing is an old running joke in the city I used to live outside of, back in the mid 70's one winter we had a week of snow, it dropped 4 or 5 feet so delivery trucks couldn't resupply things like bread, milk, eggs and of course tp. A bunch of idiots fought over that stuff so from then on when the local weathermen tell us there will be a snow storm they always, with a smile and a wink, tell us to make sure we go out and get toilet paper and bread just in case.

I was fully expecting to see what the socks looked like on. lol 😂😅
