    Certainly a "fun" episode to see them horsing around but how any of this could be considered "mythical" i'm not exactly sure - I'm sure they could've asked any soldier if it makes a difference carrying all that stuff around. But then I guess Season 9 was maybe just them basically checking stuff off their personal Mythbusters bucket list because they knew it'll be the last season. Which is fine by me.

  • @SirHorned19

    @SirHorned19

    Ай бұрын

    Every single episode of all seasons have covered topics that would be instantly answered by the right expert. You cant test actual "mythical claims" like the strength of a minotaur, the temperature of dragon-fire, or the hardness of the firmament. In several of the episodes they were just testing already documented scenarios. A couple of episodes back Adam even built a test-rig to compare the force behind a .357 round to a rock from a lawnmower. The .357 rounds force is literally printed on the box, and they had the speed and mass of the rock so they could just calculate the force in less than a second. Its an entertainment show, its not a science lecture. You basically cant use any of their conclusions for anything because all their tests are so flawed.

  • @gordonbrinkmann

    @gordonbrinkmann

    Ай бұрын

    @@SirHorned19 Well, I would not say that everything they test is a new discovery for experts and scientists, but often they test things that are "common knowledge" or things seen frequently in movies which people believe to be true or at least possible, and not all everybody knows experts or bother to ask scientists if it really true, so they keep on believing "myths". Until they get busted.

    The dubbing over of Dooms in game sounds pleases me irrationally. Right back to my childhood. I think the best mechanic to deal with this problem is in the Boarderlands franchise. you start the game with only 2 weapon slots, upgrading to a total of 4 over the course of the game. the weapons are all dynamically generated, with variable stats such as power, accuracy, reload time, ammo type and capacity, gun type, elemental effects, aesthetics etc. trying to decide what to keep and what to drop is a major part of gameplay, your kinda hosed if you get into closed quarters and you only have a sniper rifle and an RPG for example. plus, it has a great sense of humour. one of my favourites is an exceptionally overpowered SMG that screams and insults you constantly. very nice to have, but having the thing screaming at you gets old fast. Easily one of my favourites.

    I can imagine it is fun to replicate this DOOM environment etc., but I don't think it is a myth that needs to be busted. Because usually you have a myth that people believe to be true or at least accept to be possible, but I don't think there is a great percentage of gamers who think they could really carry everything they find with them in real life.

    No they aren't, maybe in Eternal which I haven't played, the originals it was found weaponry left by the dead. The chainsaw was an accidental shipment, which us how it got to space. Show me exactly on his armour where the slots are.

    It is a XBOX Kinect - they stopped making them in 2017 - If you want to use it now you kinda have to hack together your own stuff. There's also a PC version called Kinect For Windows - it's a little easier to make fun things with it but I think there's very few games that support it these days. Most motion control games are now in VR.
