I’ve only seen him via critical drinker, but it’s not even disappointment, it’s batshit insane, he edited a 20 (or what synth said) hour video (not even cutting, it included effects) into a 4 hour marathon. Nobody in their right mind unless they’re severely autistic would do such a thing, especially over a game review. Its not even a case of “I’m going to send a 5 minute video instead of blocking him” its 4 fucking hours, man edited that, rendered it, and uploaded it, instead of just dropping it. I can’t take Mauler seriously on that basis alone, hate to use ad hominem but holy fuck it shows what type of individual he is before he even makes a point (he also did this as well as in the podcast, so he took a passing topic then did this, which is more insane than an autistic hyper focus session)

SM’s arguments were riddled with false information. Even if his conclusions could possibly hold some truth, the way he got there was a brain-dead accident. There were many points in the EFAP stream where they agreed with SM’s conclusions but were laughing at his childish reasoning.

Mauler called Joseph Anderson a "massive bundle of sticks" (omitting the actual word lol, idk if KZread censors this stuff|) and then threw a tantrum when Joseph refused to talk to him on stream. Rags is constantly edgy and obnoxious, that's his whole shtick. Wolf before him was even more openly racist/sexist/whatever, and noone ever cared. EFAP had E;R on multiple times and he puts footage of Hitler speeches in his videos. EFAP as a whole has several inside jokes that are basically dogwhistles, such as them using "massive" to mean a gay person and "ewoks" to mean black. "Rules for thee, but not for me" comes to mind over this drama.

Then the format got boring, and the egos of the hosts got too large for me to stomach it. It seems whenever a KZreadr makes a podcast, their output goes down the toilet. Usual wokeness aside, one of the things that ticked me off about the game awards the most other than wokeness was the over abundance of CGI trailers, not just CGI trailers, but most of the CGI trailers shown were trying to be "Family friendly" as possible with little to no references to violence or sexual content. Even those upcoming M rated games tried to be "Family Friendly", during the game awards. Really goes to show how soft the industry has become. Back in my day, game trailers would actually showcase gameplay,even if the trailers were shown to be cinematic, they were still pure gameplay. Sometimes they were just straight up gameplay with BARELY any cinematic editing. Look at burnout paradise's launch trailer and car crash trailer for cinematic editing but still gameplay and actually shows what the game actually is. You can tell they were targeting THE FANS of the game, not some Hollywood bozos

It was enough for me to know it's a hit piece when I heard about Mauler editing in a bunch of livestream crap. From the few EFAP's I've seen where YT videos were involved they always just took the video and reacted/replied to it and maybe a related follow up video. The fact that Mauler had to break the usual format and spent over a days worth of hours watching the vods and editing things together to discredit Synthetic man ironically discredited his own "arguments". I'm not really a "fan" of either, I watch a few Synthetic man vids and I'll watch an EFAP every now and then if the topic is interesting or if they have a fun guest. Imo Synthetic man has made dumb videos before (like his Elden Ring vid imo) but idc if someone is "wrong" or not, I care that they're honest and I especially care that they're not afraid to call out the bs for what it is and EFAP going out of their way to embrace far left character assassination in this instance VERY HEAVILY damages any trust I had for them as "honest people" and are now squarely in clown territory.

The Bride was for vengeance, because she thought they killed her baby. Lara Croft, now I prefer old Lara, as in the one who survived a airplane crash and survived in the Alps, but her fiancé died in the crash. She found a drive to do more with her life, which her family disowned her for. I am a woman and I get so bored with the phrase 'ass kicking woman', just stfu. I did martial arts for over 17yrs and I only won against a man, mainly out of luck. He got distracted, strike, he overshot his strike, get in there. I was trained to move and run, not take on the big powerful man, but enough to stun and run away. Sending a stupid message to girls.

@@Akira-Strider It's all just suspension of disbelief and what breaks it, for most people seeing physically strong women who can overpower the strongest male counterparts is far beyond their ability to suspend their disbelief because they're logical people. You can have overpowered females very easily and Japanese games/anime do it all the time but they purposefully avoid having them be brutish and physically strong. The vast majority of the examples you'll see in an anime for example, will be them being strong in a totally fictional power system which I have no problem with since it doesn't map onto anything from IRL, physical strength does and as a result looks ridiculous. They could also write them to be particularly smart characters but the problem with that is the fact that the authors who desperately want to insert women into everything tend to be absolute morons themselves so good luck having a drooling idiot write a "smart" character without just making them a Mary Sue like happens 99/100 times.

I don't know how to explain it, but the voice acting in FromSoft games has always been miles ahead of basically every other game I've played. Most RPGs have incredibly cringe and shit voice acting despite being more narrative-focused than games like Elden Ring. Only other example of good voice acting I can think of is Witcher 3.

EFAP discredited themselves entirely when, instead of reacting to his review video, they edited together a 4hr hitpiece and then looked worse than SM did in the subsequent livestream. Them trying to defend black Angrboda with "are you an expert in norse mythology" has destroyed any illusion of them ever being honest ever. I don't watch many Synthetic man videos cause I don't care about the majority of the games he reviewed, I don't agree with his Elden Ring review either but he's honest which is something EFAP aren't and I'm not gonna watch anymore of their crap after this embarrassment from their side.

@@DebasedAnon SM was arguing that there should be a war to overthrow the ‘people’ in power (and it was obvious who SM was referring to because he said he’d be banned if he mentioned the group by their name)… It’s one of the biggest things EFAP responded to on the stream, which was simply relevant sections of his review and the stream clips that were associated with each section. There wasn’t any ‘hit piece’ lol!

@@Godpk11 He doesn't need to, he does almost daily 12 hr livestreams where his cult gives him super chat after super chat. Why bother creating when you can do the lazy option? Which is what he criticized SM for, but at least SM admits he just streams the game, speaks his mind while playing and then does a quick review because he just wants to and likes to play games, not because he is obligated or wants people to throw him money.

I’d change that to _as more ideological people_ join the industry. Lots of straight men making agenda-focused decisions too. Don’t really know any trans people, but there’s plenty of women in the industry that aren’t turning things into an agenda. It’s just that normal/non-ideological people don’t really get the spotlight (or get demonized off they do). So you wouldn’t be aware unless they’re in the 1% that makes some super famous work.

I was actually looking forward to this video. Also, thank you for the Dead Space 2 livestream. I couldn't catch the whole thing, but I was lucky that it was on for most of my road trip. Thanks!

If you would like to get your son into older games with great male protagonists. Castlevania: Simon and Richter Belmont, Link is really cool in the older zelda games. Samus is a great female character metroid samus returns and metroid dread turn up her cool factor more with her melee counters. Although I thought samus was pretty cool because of her different weapons and all the hostile alien planets she travels to, and the planets usually blow up when she's done with them. Master Chief is really cool being a space marine taking on galactic threats, doom guy/slayer if you let your son play more violent games doom 2016 and doom eternal make the doom guy into an absolute force of nature. Original Kratos is awesome too. There's Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the dragon, Sly Cooper in the original trilogy, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank in their original trilogy.
