Video Game Arcade Tours - Lucky Strike (Skegness, UK) 🇬🇧 - BOOTED! 👮

Ойындар

Lucky Strike is affiliated with Empire Bowl and Plaza Arcade down the street.
None of the arcades allow filming without permission (It's a UK thing!), but this arcade were not willing to have discussion nor let me speak with a manager.
It's a shame because they had a great upstairs area, but I didn't want to bring any promotion their way.
I've travelled all over the world, but UK seems to have the biggest issue with filming.
Assume we ignore the fact that:
- The capital city London has between 627,700 and 942,500 CCTV cameras.
- Most shops and businesses have cameras installed, filming people
- The average person owning a dash cam which records pretty much everything as they drive around
Nobody seems to know or understands the reason behind it. You can roll a pair of dice at what excuse they give, but it's usually:
- You're filming the machines, and people will know how to hack them using your video.
- You're filming people gambling, and they don't like that (Even though the business is already filming them gambling)
- Because of "The kids". Just a generic statement, probably implying you might be paedo, except The Childrens Act 2004 and the Data Protection Act 2018 have no specific entries recording the recording of people or children.
It's almost always 'Amusement' Arcades and not Video Game arcades that disallow filming. I personally think it's due to tax avoidance or some sort of scheme to avoid taxes or obtain money. Those 'Carny-Types' tend to be the people operating amusement arcades and gambling establishments, so I'm going to have a punt and go with that. Change my mind! haha!

An amusement arcade (often referred to as "video arcade" or simply "arcade") is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

I've been told to stop filming in 3 places iirc, 2 were arcades and one was a pub, none of them actually kicked me out though they just asked me to stop, there was another time i was filming a fruit in a service station and i heard someone say over the tannoy 'security to the machines please' or something like that and i was the only one in there, i assumed they were coming for me so i just finished my credits and left lol

Sorry to hear that! I've had similar experiences when setting up a mini tripod on 2p machines. I bet they go nuts over the fruities lol I lived in Las Vegas for 10 years, never had any issues, not once, filming gamblers in any casino.

Arcade I worked in during the 90s didn't want any filming in there due to the negativity around children being seen gambling. They refused the local TV news entry to film a piece so they just did it outside on the pavement looking in.

@@s34nvideosive only ever used SunnyCam 1080p version but sadly they stopped making these in 2019 and their website vanished. ive read some good things about the OHO 4K Ultra HD Water Resistance Video Sunglasses, i havent tried them myself so i cant say if they are great or not. The only negative i would say with the Sunnycam is the lens in the middle is quite big, personally ive used the older Sunnycam 1080p glasses where the lens was alot smaller and the video quality wasnt as good as the big lens version, i'd still choose the big lens anyday. Ive only had 2 people since winter 2019 up until now ever recognize the lens and be like " thats a camera in them glasses "

Yeah, this is probably the second best arcade Skegness (for video games), but its owned by the same people who run Empire/Plaza and they have very similar games, if not, the same games. I have a video of Plaza on my channel

It's that old fashioned idea of fruities being filmed and their paranoia about it. So daft. I get it to a degree. I used to be a bit paranoid of people filming in my shops. Y'know, are they filming my fire doors to see if they can get them open, are they filming us doing cash drops to see what are our procedures are, etc. But honestly, most people are just being people. Not everyone is out to get you. Like you say, you are doing them a favour with free advertising.

It's only ever in the UK haha! (with very very few random exceptions) I've had no problems filming casino machines in las vegas for going on 10 years. I put a small note in the video description of why I think this is so

@s34nvideos Solid point about them being a bit dodgy because they have too many of the wrong Cat machines. You are probably onto something there.

The people asking you not to film won't be around in 20 years, so just do it then xD
