Jay! This is on point and great for someone like me who doesn't want to take the time to set up a sweet system like yours. THANKS!
Hey Jay thanks for this! Been running a MiniXL for over 2 years now and love it, BUT it's a huge learning curve. Have to admit, if my uncle didn't suggest ZFS to me and help me get it up and running, not sure I would've taken the plunge. That being said, I still run into issues here and there with how it behaves with things like FCPX libraries, etc. Curious, what are you using to edit with it, and follow up would be what tuneables / preferences have you set to get the best performance? I'm using my NAS with 10GbE connections (using a caldigit ethernet to USB C adapter to our MBPs), and we have R?W speeds that are comparable or better to standard SSDs. But I've learned things like 'Jumbo Frames' in Network settings and other tuneables still change the way we can access data while editing or transferring files. Thanks!
Now that I have Google Fiber installed I'm going to set up two redundant NAS systems using RAID 10, one offsite. I also use something known as Datto. It's a 2TB automated backup system that backs up a single system or multiple systems. It uses incremental backups that are stored locally and in the Datto cloud. I also get an archive or I like to call it, a time machine. It's great for work-in-progress. Once the project/segment is finished, off to the synced NAS. I can also restore an entire systems in case of fire or the like.

Interesting, ill take a look at Datto. Currently I use Veeam for workstation backups.
Been ages since I've been here.
Are you able to use the file server as a Project Server?

Yes you sure can! You would need to be a little tech-savvy or follow a guide. The DaVinci Resolve project server is just a postgres database.

@@JayAreTV That would be a great addition to an already great storage solution. I'll start saving some money so I'll be able to afford me one in a few years (decades 😝). First things first, but I am inspired.
