I love watching you work and the ease of using your machines. I was watching a pond demo by a 'pro' excavation company and the guy working the excavator did okay but did not have the command of his machine that you do (it was not a rental, it was owned by the company). It was kinda painful to watch. Seeing this property emerge and shine has been fun. Thanks, Chris, for sharing with us all.

Another fun one to watch. My only question is why don't people cut in a drive then clear the house pad and then decide on what tree to remove? Trees are not cheap and take years to grow.

When do you decide that you knocked enough dirt of the roots to not chase it until its burned. Fuel efficiency must come into play. You're the master and watch you for hours.

Given the ability of wood ash and charcoal as fertilizing agents, I am surprised you do not burn in windrows and rake the ashes in. Just shake and stack everything a couple of feet further along and you might not need to worry about the ash dust so much when mixed into the dirt. a sort of sweeping compound theory that will grow nice green grass for house lawns.

Hey Chris, you should bring the D7 over to Blade off that 18" the owner wants you to cut down. We haven't seen the old pretty girl in a minute. Let her stretch her muscles and keep that slim body in shape like her sister, the old D6. I love those two machines i could watch them working all day. Great videos, Chris. Sir why is it you bury the ashes? If the ashes can be tilled in across the property you will add minerals to the ground to help with the grass to grow better. Mr Good did something very similar if you can get wood chips that will help also.

It’s also a building site - not a farm. Ashes (or any organics) at any depth make for a bad substrate for a structure and pavement.

Why not spread the ashes to remain the mineral content and mix in when root raking, etc. and save burying ad soft spot????

He is doing building lots. You don’t want to build on top of ashes and you don’t need “mineral content” under a house and driveway. Best to get rid of them for soil engineering.
