The beefy spear blades on the 93mm alox knives are so awesome. They make such great work knives. And the lack of the other tools gives this one a more gentlemanly appearance, which could be a plus for some people. Very cool knife, buddy!

Such a nice Gentleman’s carry I give the Bantam as a birthday and Christmas gift bc it has both the Spear and the Caplifter which makes it nearly perfect for the occasion many women appreciate it as well too as it comes in several colors and fits neatly in a clutch

Company was originally called Victoria after the mother of Karl Elsener the founder of the compnay. It was called Victoria until stainless still was introduced in 1921, at that time they decided to change the came from Victoria to Victorinox to include INOX in the name to denote that it was made with stainless still. They have a lifetime warranty, and they will repair the knife and typically only require the owner to pay for the shipping cost.

I have 2 of these knives and love them. I tried to switch out to a small tinker for versatility, but this knife came back out as my EDC. Everything about it makes me want this knife in my pocket. 99% percent of the time I just need a good blade that fits well in my hand, and doesn't look like a rambo knife with a locking blade. Where I retired from knives were banned and only allowed to use safety knives which I never got along with. I carried my SAK and was never questioned. I also like the #1 doesn't come with the key chain that needs to be cut off for me, because it caused hotspots on my pioneer. Thanks for your reviews! Jeff

Thanks, You can't really go wrong with a SAK. Inoffensive, good looking and practical. You notice how all the edges are rounded off so no sharp edges (Blade excluded) to cause discomfort. I have number of Alox models which are always a talking point. The SAK was what got me into knife collecting when i was doing business with a Swiss gentleman over 15 years ago who gave me one as a present.

These are nice knives. I bought 2 of them. Came super clean and very sharp. Fantastic walk and talk too. I like it a lot. My youngest son liked it so much, I gave him the second one. He loves it and carries his every day. And they look good.👍

I love the spring tension on this one, noticeably stronger than my other SAKs. I've been calling it the Solo, but apparently that's a separate 108mm model now? I see as of 2018 they started selling this one under the name Swiss Army 1. Thanks TK!

That's correct. It had been called the Solo Alox and in '18 they started selling it as the Army 1. Now the Solo refers to the larger knife. SAKwiki is the only way to go for that kinda info. This one really locks up well. Thanks MiMo.

I think the spring tension is stronger on these alox models as they don't have back tools so they're not ''sharing'' the spring. I may of course be wrong.

I was never interested in the multi blade SAK models but saw review of the Solo and seeing it had single blade sent off for one, amazed at the build quality considering the price, since then I have bought the Bantam and Floral knife. Great knives.

The bladstock on the alox series is also a bit thicker then on the normal ones. If just the blade isn't enough, there are other models with more tools. Really good quality. Thank you TK.

Not just that but I think the backsprings are stronger, as they have no back tools. Furthermore the liners are silver nickel rather than aluminium which is stronger too. Love my alox SAKs.

A little longer, and of course just the one blade. I like them both.

Really like the Alox SAKs, they're totally lower price high value. If I had to cut my knives down to say 20 for some reason unknown my Farmer would be in there, that thought was uncomfortable....... broke into a cold sweat then!!!!😂😂😂😂😂🤣

@@ThriftyKaniffy Was taught by ex servicemen to put scissors in your med kit when out in the woods because its not necessarily you who has to find them. I have a Boker Tech Tool 4 with the old style Wenger type scissors on for car and other journeys and its very good for that.

I have both the Farmer and the Farmer X. Bought the Farmer on Amazon a couple of years back and bizarrely it was a few pence cheaper than the Pioneer, at £23. Bought the Farmer X last year for £50 though and now it's gone up to £67! Kind of annoying to pay more than double just to get the added scissors but you win some, you lose some. It's still worth it

My style is more crusty cowboy than this very civilized knife, but I could see carrying this one. Plus, I’d get to brush up on my metric syste. Lol. Nice spear blade!

Ah yes. It really is a superior way to measure things. Even in the 80's they said it would replace the Imperical system, but it just never happened.

This model isn‘t very popular, because you can have another model with a second smaller blade in the same layer. Like the Bantam, but in 93mm.

I like single bladed knives so that was the appeal. A one bladed SAK.

I am a big fan of Victorinox Swiss Army knives, that being said I don’t know why the single blade knives are popular. To me it just is not a Swiss Army knife with no additional tools. With all the other single blade knives with better steels, one handed operation, and locking blades short of living in European countries where locking blades and such are prohibited. Why one would choose a single blade Victorinox is hard to understand. But clearly there is a good market for them or they would be discontinued. I will admit Victorinox blades are very slicey and easy to sharpen though.

I know what you mean, all my SAKs have scissors or saw, or both. But clearly this sells well as they would have discontinued it otherwise in their latest massacre. For single blade carry - often accompanied with a SAK - my current favourite is the Spyderco Urban.
