I just started feeding the birds around my property, about 2 weeks ago. I started in honor of my grandmother (RIP 🧡🙏) who always made sure to feed the birds every morning before she even made breakfast for herself. She was born in 1905. Never bought birdseed or had a feeder. She just made sure to feed the birds bread and to keep our cat inside until she was sure the birds had eaten and flown away. Thank you for this video. 🧡

@@r_r_r_r Thank you for your kind words. As to bread for birds, my grandmother baked her own bread, so it was free from preservatives. Most harm from bread today is due to the many preservatives put into commercially-prepared bread to keep it shelf-stable in supermarkets so that it does not mold so quickly. Also, back in my grandmother's day, birdseed wasn't as readily available as it is today.

@@rozchristopherson648 It’s true the harm can come from mold, but it can also come from birds thinking they’re full when bread can’t actually meet their nutritional needs. Again, lovely impulse! ❤️ More so trying to educate other bird lovers of today who read this, not comment on your sweet gran specifically.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, they do! They have a heated cat house that we built for them as well as several outbuildings they like to enjoy, and they are welcome to come inside. Many of them are feral cats as we live in the country. We try our best to provide them with a safe shelter. (:

If the birds are startled, they will likely fly into a window - you may want to move the feeders back farther from your windows. Also, having them a bit farther out decreases the likelihood of rodents entering your home. The cookies and cake look amazing.

We currently have 9 cats. Honey is the fluffy orange and white one, Fudge is the yellow tabby, Milo is the black and white cat, and there’s two calicos Coraline and Sweetie, and the others are Pam, Shadow, Stubby, and Biscuit.
