If you do the math, you come to see that in a single battle Japan lost 1% of it's 64 million people in a single battle. Just to put that in perspective Japan's total military loses for the Second World War is 2.12 million people.

Once when I was playing as Java I lost about 500k troops over a single battle when defending against the Brits on the mountain in Thailand, while my total native pops was only around 15 million man. That's 3 % of my pops gone for a single victory. Granted, I screw up alot in that war but Germany whoop their asses in Europe, so I manage to gain Burma and some worthless Pacific islands in the peace deal. I ended up at 6th btw, so not too bad for small Asian country campaign.

And basically savescumming (I know, it's disgusting) when justifying war in Eastern Indonesia n Indochina in order to reduce infamy so the Dutch/Brits don't pounce on me. Java had millions of uneducated peasants (still is) especially west Java, so a westernized Java basically has Industry potential at 2nd behind Japanese isles. Basically I spend the rest of the game building arms industry (East Java had a lot of Sulphur), liberating n invest in Philippines so I can make them my sphere (more like sidekick) and squabbling with Japan and Brits in dismembering China n Indochina. I focuse alot on Naval tech, so my Army was badly outdated even against Brits. Still, the migration mechanic was kinda broken in Vicky 2. There's a lot of Javanese migrating to Brazil per day, and my home province North Sumatera/Aceh region was nearly 40% Javanese in 1936 (like holy sh*t, if that happens IRL, there would be a lot of sectarian/racial conflict)
