I said Wemby should’ve been an all star and I stand on that. First rookie since Blake Griffin to average at 20 and 10 since Blake Griffin, and Blake was the first since Tim Duncan to do so. With a hand full of other things he’s done that you just don’t see from Rookies often. All the great bigs drafted in the top 5 since 99’ and only 2 have done that…. It’s a lot more impressive than you think

We gotta stop this. I know as sports fans we obsess over potential, but can we at least try to tone it down? This young man hasn't even played a full season in his NBA career and we already throwing GOAT defensive player on him? Let the kid grow into whatever tf he grows into.

Meaning he's supremely taller than everyone which helps him block shots but he's not an actual defender like a Giannis or AD or Gobert. Those guys can affect a teams defense. Which is why gobert is gonna win his 4th DPOY

@comebackkid5976 he's 7'5 his height is the legit reason why he's racking up blocks. Thats just stating the obvious but u wouldn't call him a defender because he hasn't learned that part yet. He's a shot blocker. Draymond green doesn't rack up blocks but you know he's a defender you see what he brings to the table aka the team. Wemby doesn't have that effect yet. If you can't understand after these back to back simple breakdowns then idk what to tell you.

He’s definitely rookie of the year

it’s sad because he’ll never get the label of best defensive player of all time because of ring culture. if wemby don’t rattle off at least 2 chips, no one will give him that title even if they see it happening in real time.

GOAT Defender is Russell. When Wemby can impact defenses like how HE did for a decade straight with his ON/OFF value, I’ll be willing to hear it out.

I’ve replied to 2-3 people acting like shot blocking is the same as defending No defending is like AD not only being an elite shot blocker but also being a great help defender a weak side defender being able to contest shots consistently and make players hesitant to drive in on you
