That last stat matters the least because its completely reliant on how good your teammates keep up when you're off the court. If wemby or kawhi were placed on the wolves their difference would drop significantly. Like its honestly one of the worst stats to determine this. just cool to look at.

He is playing like an all-star at age 20. In 3 or 4 more years, he will start a string of MVP selections, barring injury. That is the only thing I worry about for him, because that is the only thing stopping him from being the best of all time (up to now; there will always be someone that comes along that is better). For now, he will be this generation's dominant player.

Lets not forget: Embiid dropped 70 on him (career high) (averaging 35) Sengun dropper 45 on him (career high) (averaging 21) Giannis dropper 44 on him (averaging 30) Jokic dropped 42 on him (averaging 26) These are all games above 40 by big men against wemby. Vs Gobert: Embiid dropped 51 (averaging 35). The only game over 40 by a big against Gobert this season was by a guy averaging 35, MVP favourite. That same guy dropped an extra 20 on Wemby. Next season, maybe. Stats aren't everything, because regardless of Wemby's numbers, Gobert's impact this season is greater.

I was fortunate enough to see Wemby live and in person against 76ers on April 7, 2024. Double OT. Victor got 33 points, 20 rebounds, 7 blocks, 6 assists, and 5/10 from 3. He deserves the DPOTY. You don't know how long careers last, he could literally be one and done. He earned it this year and needs to receive it.

I know it's an individual award and Wemby will win a few during his career but you'd think his record will be a problem for people voting on the award.

And bringing up the teams winning percentage is useless. they obviously just got the first pick in the drafy and wemby alone has nothing to do with how bad his teammates are on defense he can't control thatBut what wemby does control is the fact that he single handedly carries his team to being top 5 on defense in the 29 minutes hes on court. And when hes off court the spurs are 25th in defense. this is a way better comparison if you want to bring up his team because this shows his direct impact on the defensive side. and he holds players around -11% than their normal field goal percentage at the rim when he's contesting and not to forget players run away or go the other way when they see wemby because of his defensive presence. but thats not a stat thats recorded or talked about often

The last stat chart just shows how much better or worse of a defender a player is than the rest of his team, it doesn't compare to other players in the league. Considering the Spurs have the 22nd worst team defense of course Victor is going to excel at this stat. Not hard to pick which stats to highlight and make him look godly. That said, he is on track to be one of the best defenders and all aroudn players of all time.
