If it was one of our banjos, of course. However, this is not one of our banjos. And we didnt really get too deep into his banjo in the conversation. But the playing is sublime.

Yes for sure. It is a great option for this tone. And then there are additional adjustments that can be made to dial it in some. Lower head tension and heavier, warmer strings being two easy ones to work with.

@@DeeringBanjoCo Thanks again! Currently, I have changed to 13 and 15 (from 11 and 13) on the B and G strings of my Goodtime 2, and the tone and feel is quite a bit more substantive. I was wondering if I can also go up to 11 on the top melody string (given there is no truss rod on the Goodtimes). Thanks a million, friends! (I must say I love the perfection of a Deering maple neck--very hard to find an equivalent in mandolins and acoustic gee-tars.)

@@longtalljay No problem! Yes, I think that will be fine. Dont tell anyone but I have a Goodtime Americana with medium gauge, and an Artisan with Julia Belle strings tuned to E. No problems at all. Love dialling in the tones!

No. But he is related to Gina Furtado, who is also an exceptional banjoist.
