I'm somewhat new to the banjo and I love this as a finger exercise for someone who's a bit clumsy on the banjo still! Thanks!
Thank you so much for this!!
Can I play those exact chords on a soprano ukulele, or would it be in a different key?
It’s not easy but if you have time, it’s relaxing and fun.
1:47 nice ending 3:09
awesome....would you recommend this over the clawgrass 2?
My personal taste but this for me is the perfect sounding banjo.
Watched this great session last week, and then discovered that Tray was playing at The Hillside Festival right here in Guelph Ontario, Canada on the weekend! What luck! He did a great show!
All the kudos are deserving for Kristin, and I chime in too! In addition, kudos to the Deering Company for hosting these artist features...Thank You SO much..I play a Deering Sierra (don't remember what Kristin played), and it is set up super duper...So glad for it!
Your right. Has its on voice. I ve looked at Seeder, Smakula, and Cedar Mountain banjos. Nothing sounds as good as this White Oak..iThis is by recording audio not hands on. But I’ve gotta get hands on.
Ryan plays a banjo like a guitar
A great interview. Trey is a fantastic player, really enjoyed it all, thanks.

What is this performance song called?
Best tutorial so far. Thank you 🫡
Thank you so much; just got my first banjo and intonation was horrendous but you’ve helped me fixed it :)
Man, you are awesome on that thing. I wish I could get to that level. I’m still slow and miss notes often. Great review.
Awesome sound from his Deering custom built golden clipper banjo super loud amazing tone. Kind regards Tim
Please note: this is American tuning. It is not the Irish tuning. It does make a difference depending in the type of music you are playing.
Absolutely nuts
I've had this banjo for 10 years and it has travelled all over the USA with me and even gone overseas to Asia. It's been in the Northeast through below 0 winters and humid summers, the Southwest through 114 degree weather and now lives on the coast in the Pacific Northwest and it hasn't changed a bit. The head is just a bit dirtier but it plays just as well. I used to work in a music store and we sold garbage banjos from brands I won't bother naming. They were only $100 or so cheaper than this one but it felt like a $1000+ difference. I'm seriously very thankful to Deering for making such a quality instrument at a good, entry level price point. It's rare to see.
Blue Chimes
Can you add more clawhammer?
Tony is one of the best players in the world. He’s written books about playing the banjo that are also some of the best. Love to hear him speak about his music in this interview. Thanks for sharing.
Triplets, sweeping? I reckon I don't even know the proper term but that was a soild job!!!
And here I thought you were stretching a skin head.
Sign me up! Awesome company! Awesome artist!
dude rips a heavenly rendition of this song and then pauses and says "so this songa melody falls easily under our fingers" lol
Amazing eyebrow control!! Great lesson too! Thx.
How can you not fall in love with this woman - she is an icon and so sweet!
Mean Mary is an icon in America - just what the doctor ordered! thx Mary
for a politician to be elegible for election they should be a musician ( bluegrass preferably ..*^%$#; right I'm a musician) these gals are eligible IF they would run.
Song that makes me want to learn banjo
Thanks!
this is the most american thing ive ever heard
Thank you... this video gave me the confidence needed to work on my goodtime special.
I thought the two sounded better than the special, and I feel like I should like the special better!
great stuff, he made it sounds so easy, thank you so much. will visit again.
Do you capo the 5th string or does it remain in G?
BB is my banjo instructor; She is awesome! 😊
I love Mean Mary!
Thank you!
Thanks for these videos! Im just starting and not a musician. These are very helpful!
You're very welcome! We love being able to help people. :-)
You get better every time I hear you play!
Watching her pick after finding out about her car accident at a younger age is just amazing. Shows how human spirit and dedication can overcome many hits at life. You two playing is awesome to watch.
Artisan is the one i would buy love the look and tone of it
Ahhhhh! Emily Remler! One of my all time favorites and biggest influences. I have been trying to adapt my guitar experience to the banjo over the past eight years, which is why I focused on tenor and now plectrum: Pat Cloud, Bela Fleck, and Ryan Cavanaugh notwithstanding, for me, the four strings feel more intuitive for jazz playing than the five.
Holy hell! One banjo is more than enough!
Said nobody, ever. :-)
That neck tho!
