This was one of favorite bassists, of course after Jaco Pastorius. It is with a heavy heart that I learn of his death today on Veterans Day of 2016. RIP. Your music will be dearly missed.

Plus, even Jaco would have considered this a tribute to his own skills on the Base. Bailey's introduced a technique for playing that Jaco himself never attempted to utilize, and that is something that would have piqued his interests. I like what Bailey's done with this.

Victor isn't being a speed freak here or overly technical, he's expanding the horizon of the instrument in a very musical way - trying to do something different considering he stepped into some big shoes with this particular gig. It's all about groove and Victor's got it throughout this whole video. What doesn't groove is your use of such an ugly word to describe the solo. In the same sentence you say you love the guy (musically), yet call him a musical rapist. I can't get that shit, man. GFY.
