    The fact that every car can be bought by anyone in a raffle is absolute genius. It really must help to make the racing on a level playing field. In the UK stock car scene people can spend crazy money on even the lowest racing classes.

    Yes, it absolutely helps. Of course there are still people who can afford to put a lot of money into their cars, but those are also the people who have to sell their cars often, meaning they have to spend big money again and again - and other people can get very good cars for relatively little money when buying those cars. It's far from perfect, but a working compromize.

    There's a track not far away from here, but I haven't watched folk race for a long time. Think it's time for that next summer. Fun fact, Heavy that was in the video are in two bands, Mimikry and Dökött but he's also known from Hjalle & Heavy (both playing in Mimikry).

    Well we do have destruction derby style racing on the low end and LeMons style racing just above it. I'm content with competing in the latter.

    It’s originally a Swedish motor sport, where it’s really a folk sport, but the idea actually came from Finland, where it’s become quite big too. Sweden has 20.000 licensed driver and Finland 3800.

    This folkracing actually originates from Finland, known as jokamiehenluokka (every man's class). I guess Finnish immigrants brought it to Sweden too, or Swedes just copied it :). I didn't even know Swedes do it too, but Swedish wiki page says it came from Finland.

    Might be folk racing, but in my mind it’s more along the lines of “wasting cars” Don’t get me wrong, it looks fun, but. I couldn’t smash up even a Prius. (Well maybe a Prius, but you catch my drift)

  • @BolinFoto

    @BolinFoto

    2 жыл бұрын

    Most cars used in folk race aren't road worthy. They are one step from being scrapped. You don't want to spend too much money either, because after the race the cars are sold. It's done so that no one can "pay to win" and it's never about the car but the driver. So the cars used are not in any means good cars :P
