ABOUT THE SERIES:
The language of music is universal, though every musician speaks with their own unique voice. So what happens when you bring two drummers together, side-by-side, to share in a conversation? Endless creativity. Vic Firth DUOS is a new series from Vic Firth that explores these conversations and showcases the connected, creative moments that could only come from Vic Firth Artists.

Im really loving the duos where guys are figuring out dope grooves to play off with each other! Not that simply trading chops isn't also dope 😂, but this musical approach is super fresh and dope!

It looks like Gerald plays with the stick between his index and middle finger in his right hand for some parts

Tony Lancer I guess maybe when his first finger gets sore he switches to his middle. At least that’s what I would guess, but that does happen when you use extended length sticks, the pointer finger is always the first to go

Over the years I think Gerald has become basic. Jamal in the other has improved immensely. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I respect both drummers but I prefer Jamal #dontshootme

The technical aspect of this type of drumming is AMAZING, but TBH it’s starting to get boring, everyone is doing it now, everyone sound’s the same, everyone is speaking with the same voice and there is no new value, its reaching the point of being overdone, Shed shed shed shed...How bout some pocket for a change (no pun intended)
