I absolutely love how Viago still fell in love with this woman throughout the many years. And still chooses to be with her even when she is in her very elderly age. Even if it is played as a joke, it is still a nice twist on an old trope.

for real! it warms my little heart how vampires in wwdits don't seem to care about age -- at least not viago and his tv show counterpart, nandor, who i'm pretty sure is based off of him. nandor and viago both love a human woman and don't mind that they've aged since they first met; they love them and think they're still beautiful. feeling like the grinch on christmas morning rn

It was actually that scene that got me into WWDITS--someone posted about how they were tired of seeing 300+ year old vampires lusting after teenage girls, and the attached screenshot was of Viago's "cradle-snatcher" scene :) It looked like a fun movie when I did some digging.

"this is jasmine" scene where he said that while pointing at his flowers embroidery on his jacket, should be included because that one second scene really had me weeping and sobbing on the floor because how pure and cute it is

Part of the vampire curse is that you wish to kill and barely feel remorse. But Viago is so innocent that he actually feels a bit guilty.

I like how it doesn’t shy away from the fact that he is just as much of a murder as any other vampire AND is an absolute sweetheart.

He says in the movie that he was born in Germany and came to New Zealand to follow a human woman he had fallen in love with who was moving there. But his familiar (his servant) put the wrong postage on his coffin so it took him over a year to get there and by then she was married to another. She is the old woman in the clip, since she is a widow now and he still in love with her he finally woos her and turnes her into a vampire. And why he spoke German in that one scene is because the vampires become friends with a human who shows them how modern technology works so he makes a Skype call to his old servant who was left behind in Germany to tell him the story. His servant then asks why he never came back as he promised to make him a vampire for his services but he never did and he is so old already, so Viago quickly ends the call to not have to deal with that.

​@@angelsimp6151 Wem sagst du das, ich war eh schon Taika Fan, jetzt habe ich gerade Our Flag Means Death gesehen und bin voll auf dem Trip xD Zieh mir gerade so nach und nach alles mögliche mit ihm und Rhys Davis rein. Und What we do in the Shadows ist eh faszinierend, das war ursprünglich ein Kurzfilm, den sie dann nochmal überarbeitet haben und es gibt auch so kleine Extrainterviews und Promo die sie in character gemacht haben, ich mag so Scheiß ja sehr :D Ich glaub ich hab als ich den vor ein paar Jahren das erste Mal geschaut hab im Bonusmaterial gesehen, wie sie so als Vampire für Promo durch Berlin laufen und an nem Gebäude vorbei laufen, wo es einen Empfang gibt und sie kommentieren das glaub ich auch. Und drin unter den Gästen ist LeFloid und schaut sie total verdattert an xDDD
