For a dog that needs consistent and routine grooming it is best to start them off as a puppy, around 6 months, with just a bath and some nail trims and so on to desensitize them because it can be an overwhelming event. Bam Bam probably wasn't desensitized properly or had a traumatic grooming experience which can happen. It's sad because grooming for dogs is mostly about quality of life compared to just looking pretty.

I had a rescue like this. All you can do is keep everyone safe, I muzzled my baby in the car for the staff and always held his front end for them . I too lucked out and had a vet who was so kind even when I was an anxious ball of nerves every time I took him because I was terrified he'd bite someone yet at home he was basically my personal support worker for anxiety and the best cuddler

LOL - "Please don't come back" - These Pet Vet staff are the most wonderful people on the planet
Dougal was likely so upset at the start because he was in pain from the snake bite. Animals often get aggressive when they’re in pain, so seeing his personality completely switch after he had some meds and rest makes sense
Vets like these that risk serious injury but continue to treat aggressive pets are worth their weight in gold. It can be dangerous to muzzle dogs like Claude with brachycephalic (pushed in) faces so the fact that they're willing to think outside the box to ensure he receives the care he needs just goes to show how dedicated this team is to their patients.

WOW Claude is super sensitive to his space being invaded! His owner is so good with him...and Scott is such a gem. He takes on so many patients that no other vets will see, due to their behavior with vets.He just figures out a way to make get around an issue, and make his patient better, despite their sauciness. Claude definitely looks like he wants to take a few bites out of Scott! Look at that side eye he gives him. DANG! Chris is really good at understanding what a behavior problem stems from, and rigging gadgets to thwart that behavior....and rigging gadgets in general, when nothing exists to help a patient. He just designs something...or inquires from us in the US if we have anything that would work for whatever his patient's need is.
Dr. Chris did a nice shot on the Rhino.
No Chris you are not a coward! I'm certainly not laughing at you. Running is absolutely the bravest thing to do. What else could you do? You are amazing for everything you do!

Some love & time will help.. I've had the same experience with a few of my rescue cats.. it takes time but eventually they seem to realise that you are only trying to help.. they will start to trust you... The power of love is incredible!
Bam Bam looks like he would benefit from some pre-appointment fear free medications and then grabbing him with a thick blanket to get the injectable sedation in. That is most likely how the clinic I work at would handle him. Bless Scott for how kindly he treats the fearfully aggressive pets that I've seen him work with.
The expressions on Claude's face when he looked at Scott were priceless!
Claude reminds me of several of my cats. Especially Echo. Severe conjunctivitis at birth which had me putting drops in his eyes daily, under protest from mama cat and another female cat. Finally got that cleared, and then he fell out a window and got injured. Ten weeks of non stop vet clinics and hospital stays to fix his injured leg. No vet wants me to bring Echo to see them. Sedation is at the ready the minute we walk in. The vet is like: "We love you, Echo, but please don't come back".
Scott is a true angel and a godgiven gift to the humanity 😍😍 His passion and love for this job is truely amazing and heartwarming same goes to his team, they´re incredible and loveable aswell 🤩
To be fair to Dougal, if a snake bit me in the face I wouldn’t be a happy camper either 😅😅 😂😂
Taking on such a traumatised dog is a really noble thing to do. And having a vet that understands and won’t turn you away because you’re dog is so aggressive must be a huge help. Hope Bam Bam continued to live a happy life. Don’t know how old this episode actually was
It has taken me hours of viewing videos to FINALLY figure out that there are two different tall, blonde vets on this show. I'm not sure what I thought was happening when they're showing Australia and the UK in quick succession. LOL Scott and Chris look so much alike to me. I thought they were one person with different haircuts. doi. Love the show!
I have such respect for Dr. Chris and Emma. They are so caring for the pets they treat.
Can we talk about how cute clauds owner is??????!!!!!
Dougal seems like such a sweet kitty, just zero pain tolerance.

I always like the vet stories involving Lisa. However, Lisa didn't come off as being professional this time. She made too much of a fuss about the cat trying to defend himself.
That's absolutely brilliant to microchip the horn. Then if it's killed the poacher can be tracked down and arrested. They should do this in Africa with all the wild elephants and rhino
This is why if you own snakes you must examine their shed skins to ensure those eye caps have come off. I'm surprised they let that cobra get such a buildup on his eye!

@@Rachel0400 in the fairness of the keepers, if this snake say sheds once a month and they try to reduce handling as much as possible for keeper and snake safety it's quite understandable that it had four layers stuck. Also sometimes stuck eye caps on the eyes are bad enough to remove even with a more placid snake. If he's already getting agitated by them trying the first couple times, the risk goes way up. Even moreso, not all of the keepers at the reptile park would be allowed to handle the venomous reptiles due to inexperience and safety issues. Not saying it's ok whatsoever to let it get so bad, but I'm just trying to give some light to possible reasons for why it got this bad before being removed by enough experienced people.

@@darkluxgames2347Once a month is a little too often for an adult snake, it's usually 3 to 6 times a year for an adult snake, and most snakes don't like being touched near their head, so especially with a spicy friend like that a stuck eyecap is a serious things. Usually you can try to handle it yourself with a lukewarm bath and a towel adventure and they get it off, but sometimes it doesn't work, so it's to the vet

@@idiotically-everything Thank you for this. I'm not a snake keeper, I only watch videos on snakes from Snake Discovery and Chandler's Wild Life, where the snakes tend to shed more often, or at least those videos are uploaded often. It was an educated guess from what I've seen, meaning my guess was incorrect (I'm used to baby snakes I think shedding lol), but this also adds even more context for how it could have gotten that bad if they shed way less as adults!
Claude really didn't like you Scott he was side eyeing you just waiting for you to make a mistake ha ha that is funny. You are the sweetest vet.
Bam Bam's mom needs to have someone else bring him into the Vet. HER anxiety is probably the majority of HIS anxiety and it's just making everything worse when she reacts as strongly as she does. Everybody loves their dogs that much and everybody's as anxious when their dog has to have a procedure but she's just making it 10 times worse on the poor pup

Aw little Dougal getting the sweetest vet ever Lisa to say "Please dont come back." He must have been even fiestier than they showed. She didnt even say that to the monitor lizard.
My Rottie was the sweetest dog ever. When he first visited the vet it was a case of putting on a muzzle (so said the vet). Néga was just a gentle giant and never hurt anyone. After his first visit, he didn't need any muzzle and everyone at the vets loved him

I... I’ve only seen the first patient, BamBam, walk in, and I already have to comment (even though I’d much rather keep watching!). Mom is making BamBam’s anxiety SO MUCH WORSE. I suspect he can’t help but feed off her fear. When mom is shaking like a leaf, crying, etc., of course companion is going to feel dread as well.

Poor bam bam. That owner needs to get herself under control. Most of his anxiety is coming from her!
Fear is healthy! I respect that, Scott! I had a beautiful Persian cat. We had one Vet, Dr.C., who favored cats and one, Dr. E., who favored dogs...in the same practice. Dr. E. put a big B.C. (be careful) on her chart. She would hiss, scratch, and bite him. Dr. C had no issues with her at all.
The funiest sentence ever: " so dougal are you happy to be leaving us here at sash, please dont come back" ( spelled his name wrong the first time )

If I was Sheena I'd definitely be doing more like getting them socialised to grooming or seeing a behaviourist for that kind of behaviour because one day if you keep doing that they will die under the anesthesia. A little bit of tough love will save a whole lot of future pain

I had to take her to the vet & sedate her to even brush her.. but now she will protest & tell me she dosen't like it bur she let's me do anything now. She learned along the way that i was only trying to help. And she trust me fully now. And I don't look like i was attacked by a pack of lions afterwards.. Same with my mom, she got a short hair cat that had been severely neglected by her former owner. She was even hit by a car that shattered her hip & the owner did nothing. That cat is now the sweetest girl ever.. The power of love is never to be underestimated

The lady who owns Bambam needs to look at how she interacts with the dog and realize she creates some of the problems. Her anxiety transfers to him. Obviously at some point in his life the poor dog had a traumatic experience with a groomer, and her inability to remain calm exacerbates it. Seeking psychological help from a certified trainer would probably help, but she’s got to do her part.

Always considered Scott as great vet, who has compassion and understanding for animals but extreme cases like this shows how great his level of compassion and understanding is, it would be easy to judge and write these animals off as just plain aggressive and untreatable but it warms my heart that Scott and these animals owners know that clearly some trauma has happened to them and or theres other reasons unknown, to make them react this way, they all show such great understanding and thats just wonderful to see. The way animals behave is never for nothing, there will be always reasons to their behaviour- we humans just don't always get to know exactly what those reasons are but Bravo to those who still love and care enough to treat difficult animals, such credit is owed to them...

Lots of pets go from angels at home to aggressive fear messes at the vets or groomers..being away from home and with strangers is so stressful for them especially when things they don’t like are being done to them. No one had to do anything to get a dog to react like that at a vet office but someone could of, if it’s not stated some incident happened it’s just natural fear responses
Scott and His hole Team is incredible
I can't help but think that the owners over-dramatic reactions are part if whats driving bambams aggressive behaviour. She's scared for his safety and wellbeing when she takes him to the vet, Bambam picks up on that but thinks that the fear is of the vet, because of danger, not because of Bambam himself.
Dang, that door trick is awesome!! I take a note!!
I just love your videos

Poor Scott. I jumped every time he did.
Dr. Scott and Nurse Emma are a fabulous team. Bam Bam's owner loves him and I am so happy the mass was benign. I am glad there is a sanctuary for animals like African animals poach and killed for money. Dr. Chris was quite brave to take on the job and he is a great shot. The microchip is a good device, especially the placement in the horn. I am so happy to see a snake patient even a King Cobra with a retained eye cap. That was an awful build up of unshed skin. The big guy should be much happier now.

My mom tried to give a haircut to our not even a year old lhasa apso and it traumatized him for life-- I felt so bad-- a few groomers gave him a chance but he was just too anxious, even just at the sound of the clippers, we did what we could for him at home right up to the end, it was just the more humane thing, than putting him through the anxiety of a professional groom. Also, I loved Lisa with Dougal: "Please don't come back," We've all had Those Days, Lisa, I don't think anyone would judge you, xD
