A break into looking at the Guerlain Extraits is reserved for yet another (!) new launch at Guerlain, this time the three "parfum" versions for the two classics Vetiver and Habit Rouge and what is, I'm guessing, their best seller, L'Homme Idéal. In this video I explore Vetiver Parfum, the only one of the three I actually bought. Why Vetiver? While I find the classic version of Vetiver de Guerlain to be perfect in all its forms (yes, all of them, current or vintage, Vetiver is perfect just the way it is and there really is no reason to hunt for vintages unless you don't know what to do with your money and want to make some seller on Ebay rich, buying an overpriced variant of something still in production), my own reserve of Vetiver was dwindling so I was already eyeing a new bottle when I heard the rumour Guerlain were going to launch a flanker for it soon. Soon turned out to be more than half a year and now it's finally here, courtesy of the wonderful Place Vendôme. Was it worth the wait? You can see for yourself in my new video.

Sir, much thanks for the Guerlain extracts reviews & now the 3 parfum reviews! Again your insights & keen information elucidate these new fragrances. (I will not be purchasing the extraits too costly for my pocketbook. But have my Habit Rouge & Vetiver parfums on order for late April US release). The Vetiver looks promising from your (& your nose’s) take. The Habit Rouge is purportedly Dress Code re-issued with a few tweeks). Thanks again for keeping us informed & giving us plenty of food for thought & fragrances to smell.

@@johnparker8490 yes and he had some very nasty things to say about the extraits as well. I love him 🤣 However... his opinions are just rushed fragrance grift, nothing else. To be taken with a (large) grain of salt.

I have a decant coming and am very interested to smell it. I don’t like anise and licorice at all, and I hate absinthe, so it will be very interesting to see how those notes hit my nose.

Your description of the original versions of Vetiver are so interesting and make total sense to me, I always loved this perfume which was my Dad’s signature scent ❤ Curious about the newest version but not sure it was needed…

Thank you for watching! Nothing of this launch is remotely needed. I think it’s just their way of giving older scents a chance to be discovered by newer generations, which isn’t wrong. Thinking of the many vetiver scents launched at niche houses every year, it’s a shame good old Guerlain Vetiver isn’t more appreciated. Although many would argue (including myself) that Vetiver is perfect just the way it is, nobody’s touching classic Vetiver, it stays the same for us to enjoy 🤍
