I'm an ex-82nd Airborne Trooper. I was invited to march with the Parachute Regiment at Horse Guards in 2006. I have come every year since, and have reservations for 2016.

I watched this when it was originally on TV but shed just as many tears this time as last. It is such a humbling experience to see the people who fought so we can enjoy the freedoms we have now. As an ex member of the army the camardarie is second to none. you all belong to a family regardless of age

Just saw the video. This was 10 years ago. Most of the WW2 and Malayan Emergency and Indonesian Confrontation veterans will have passed on by now. May God bless them for their achievements and services. Truly magnificent men and women.

Honour, pride, comradeship, duty, self sacrifice. Just words to many people who do not or cannot understand them. To us who have served, they mean everything. It is easy for them to ridicule that which they do not understand and ignore the fact that they owe their freedom to men who are willing to do violence on their behalf. We know what we stand for and we never forget our comrades that never came back from that foreign field. 19 year British veteran,

Good to see the BBC covering the vets march past properly and describing the units - In the past this part of Remembrance Day was disgracefully ignored by the BBC.

Leonard ~ those that spat at you should remember that you were prepared to write a blank cheque to defend their rights . They forget that someone else paid that debt . The atmosphere in Whitehall on these days is one of pride and comradeship . The Cap Badge or colour of uniform we wore unites us as 'Brothers In Arms' who remember our fallen comrades of all generations . Come and join us one year , you be made Welcome 'We Will Remember Them'

As an American veteran, I'd love to participate in something like your mass veterans parade. But the U.S. is so large that it would be a logistical challenge just to get to whatever city or cities that would host the parade. Your men look damn sharp. We have veterans groups, though not as many as yours... American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans Association... Even if we would have such parades, there probably wouldn't be as many of the public in attendance as your people.

@@keithrudd8003 All of your veterans here are quite dignified, wearing their berets, regimental neck ties, and blazers... quite sharp ! Unfortunately, both our governments are sadly lacking in the care and support oft needed, and badly, by veterans of the many conflicts. Many Americans have to retain attorneys to secure their rightfully earned benefits, and even then many are denied as I was. Now receiving a civilian disability pension only because I paid into the system beginning at age 16...

Hi Leonard, in the UK we have an organisation called The Royal British Legion. They organise and contribute funds they have raised for this day. It's a tradition we all love and respect and maybe you or some of your old comrades could gather support in the USA for something similar to be set up. So everyone who served, and especially the Public should get the opportunity to remember fallen service personnel. Get the fat cat congressmen involved. Good luck.
