    If you want to have a tag that don’t come out use z tags their a one piece tag that works great

    Ryan great video you and your family might want to consider a squeeze chute. not having one is like not having a tractor for planting corn also you might want to check out California bander quick and easy best part cheep but be sure you give shot of Tetanus Toxoid and you might want to check out Z tags please do not take this as a criticism I have been cattle business all my life and have own a cattle sales barn for 26 years try to tell all my customers this

    I work on a dairy farm with holstines but next year where having our first fleckvieh heifers but we raise a few blonds and limousine

    We get empty tags so when one falls off and we find we write on the other side or wash off the front.

    Ryan I know there is an increased cost, but especially for your cows since you keep them wouldn't a microchip be a better cost savings for knowing the specific serial number on your stock?

    I'm curious how much it costs to do that, including implantation and the equipment necessary to read it. I know it's common with household pets, especially dogs, but I haven't the slightest clue how much a microchip scanner costs.

    stuartsplace100 bands aren't as economical as cutting. If u cut them out then u know your getting both nuts. If you band them u just hope and pray like hell you have both of them

    Why not just buy blank tags and write a number in? Thats what we do and it seems to save a lot of time

    Makes sense. It does start to wear off a little on some of our cows. But not all but we number them with more of a system I guess. Love the videos!

    Start with mucking, then stir up the muck pool. Be sure you time and record every action as it helps you time the work orders. Have fun!

    You have to know what you are doing if you want to be a farm manager. You start out being the hired man and after you have proven you know what you are doing and can do the book work, then you can look for a job as a manager.

    How Farms Work we do it on our own and it takes about 3-4 hours of 6 shots, implants, dehorning, and cutting nuts for about 100 head

    How Farms Work guess I don't put into factor that the 3-4 hours is with setting up. Not bragging just saying that it works better for us to do it on our own. And I guess we usually have around 4 people. 2 chasing cattle 2 people running chute

    Ritter ranch ritter I cannot tell either what brand those are. Not Y or Allflex. Z Tags are great cause 1 piece and the needle doesn't touch skin. Hard plastic piece on tags makes the hole.

    In UK we have had cattle passports for years, and each cow has its own number from birth that corresponds with its passport, if it looses that tag we have to apply to government for a new tag to be issued and give the reason why we need it, eg, cow lost it, I find it strange that the US doesn't have such a system for cattle traceability.

    Yeah much the same in ireland.I find it odd seeing 2 different numbers on ryan/travis cattle. Kinda funny how theres the american/canadian, uk/ireland, european and australian/nz way to do the same thing in different areas

    Dairy cattle here in the US are traved. They have a number for the government and a number for the farmer
