Naming your cattle reminds me of my dad doing the same thing. Brings back great memories. RIP Robert A. Zabel...
another great one. it gives people an idea of whats involved in raising cattle.
Nice video Ryan, Dairy cows are so much more chilled it than beefers. I'm glad I work with them more

Ryan you are a smart guy! How you started your herd is the same plan I have. Starting like that is better than going out and buying an expensive large herd.
Great video Ryan, it was awesome meeting you Friday i was the one with the IH shirt on that was bright red and the camo IH hat Thanks for the great videos.
Some of the cows were super chill others were wild. Cool video. Thanks!
Like the video Ryan and keep them comming only wen you have time .
If you want to have a tag that don’t come out use z tags their a one piece tag that works great
Yup!! By having cows, you gotta upgrade especially! If you want to get the breed that you want.
Gummy the ball dude, rockos one kool dog you guys take good care of your pups
We band our own cattle when there calves we dehorn at the same time
Great vid Ryan
Great video Ryan try some z tags they don’t come out an you don’t have to deal with two pieces!
Ryan great video you and your family might want to consider a squeeze chute. not having one is like not having a tractor for planting corn also you might want to check out California bander quick and easy best part cheep but be sure you give shot of Tetanus Toxoid and you might want to check out Z tags please do not take this as a criticism I have been cattle business all my life and have own a cattle sales barn for 26 years try to tell all my customers this
Seemed to go pretty good.
interesting as always Ryan...
Love the videos
Good video Ryan
Very interesting
hey Ryan did you and your family and a great time at 2018 national farm machinery show in Louisville Kentucky??
I work on a dairy farm with holstines but next year where having our first fleckvieh heifers but we raise a few blonds and limousine
We get empty tags so when one falls off and we find we write on the other side or wash off the front.
Very good video Ryan how is everything with Jamie and you
Dedicated corrals sound like a great idea. How much money does it take to make that happen?
Good video
Ryan can you and Travis swap heifers so you can build both of the herds?
Nice video
I help do this few times I kicked into the fence not the greatest feeling no broken bones
Hey Ryan is that your new truck under the tarp? Are you trying to keep the salt off of it?
never see ur bull about where does he be kept and what breed is he
How many cows do you have?
How do you tell if the red tags get faded ?
make a video on that car under the cover? theres a good video if your looking for one this winter season!!!
were you guys castrating the the calf's also?
What's under the tarp in the shed?
Looks like Travis working the Shot out of that bobcat
Ryan how did you like the calf bottle holders you bought for the bottle calves? I seen them on a video and recognized them. I've been thinking of purchasing some. Keep up the good work, your doing great. Thanks in advance!

@@HowFarmsWorkhow are you
Ryan I know there is an increased cost, but especially for your cows since you keep them wouldn't a microchip be a better cost savings for knowing the specific serial number on your stock?
@MatthewHoag77
6 жыл бұрын
I'm curious how much it costs to do that, including implantation and the equipment necessary to read it. I know it's common with household pets, especially dogs, but I haven't the slightest clue how much a microchip scanner costs.
Where did you go to get the tags?
What was the covered vehicle in the background? Ryan's truck?

Ever try renting a bull so you can save heifers. And not have to feed him year round..

stuartsplace100 bands aren't as economical as cutting. If u cut them out then u know your getting both nuts. If you band them u just hope and pray like hell you have both of them
Do you ever do have a guy come and trim the cows hooves
you dosen´t have milking cow
You should have more dairy cows
If you get a new bull you get a Hereford
What car is under the cover in the shed?

Probably because it was shook. They are being a smart operation
I have cows and there are some mad ones but not as mad as yours
I the one at the farm machine show $10 for the shirts thanks
Why not just buy blank tags and write a number in? Thats what we do and it seems to save a lot of time

Start with mucking, then stir up the muck pool. Be sure you time and record every action as it helps you time the work orders. Have fun!

You have to know what you are doing if you want to be a farm manager. You start out being the hired man and after you have proven you know what you are doing and can do the book work, then you can look for a job as a manager.

How Farms Work we do it on our own and it takes about 3-4 hours of 6 shots, implants, dehorning, and cutting nuts for about 100 head

How Farms Work guess I don't put into factor that the 3-4 hours is with setting up. Not bragging just saying that it works better for us to do it on our own. And I guess we usually have around 4 people. 2 chasing cattle 2 people running chute
We got a farm that chips their cows tells them everything
What the tractor in corner?
Z Tags way to go!

Ritter ranch ritter I cannot tell either what brand those are. Not Y or Allflex. Z Tags are great cause 1 piece and the needle doesn't touch skin. Hard plastic piece on tags makes the hole.
@wyattritter6473
6 жыл бұрын
OneCincyFarmer66 I've never saw different styles of tags till now Being am I just a youngin. I always wondered how the tags fall out because we always have trouble cutting the tags out from the sales barn.
We used to cut them off and the dogs would eat them Mountain Oysters...
Poor cows getting from both ends! 😩
Ever look into ai instead of keeping a bull
In UK we have had cattle passports for years, and each cow has its own number from birth that corresponds with its passport, if it looses that tag we have to apply to government for a new tag to be issued and give the reason why we need it, eg, cow lost it, I find it strange that the US doesn't have such a system for cattle traceability.

Yeah much the same in ireland.I find it odd seeing 2 different numbers on ryan/travis cattle. Kinda funny how theres the american/canadian, uk/ireland, european and australian/nz way to do the same thing in different areas

Ritter ranch ritter I know I work a ranch. We cut our steers nuts out of em, but the rodeo guys use the vice that look like that gets using.
That's alot of money to spend on bulls. Inbreeding isn't bad
