There are actually schools that has a PVM-DVM degree.. and it only lasts for 6 years..😄 I just finished my Pre-Vet Curriculum last semester and now Im currently on my 1st year of DVM and it is no joke. P.S. These tips are really helpful.. ❤

Kitcat Lps after vet school you have to apply to a program to intern at a zoo (typically it's at a zoo other times it can be at a university with a little zoo like UGA) but there's no vet medicine degree. You can Google it all but there's a handful of universities that offer zoological programs :)

Grace Bates Does your high school offer any programs where you can finish your last two years of high school while earning your Associates? That is KEY. My daughter is interested in attending medical school and is entering her sophomore year in hs. We’ll be enrolling her in the Pathways program so that she’ll attend our local community college during junior & senior year. She’ll graduate with her diploma and AS in Allied Health. It’s a gigantic head start in life and sets her up for success. Good luck!

There is a lot of pressure from the outside to get started as soon as you can if you are thinking you are interested in vet school because "it's so competitive," but I think that makes many people doubt themselves. Don't let that pressure get to you. You are in high school. You aren't behind. Things you do or don't do now are not going to preclude you from going to veterinary school. Do what you enjoy for now, and do it well! Heck! I had no idea vet school was for me until AFTER COLLEGE. I had to go back and finish my pre-requisite classes, but I did, and now I'm in vet school. Everyone takes a different path to get here, and that's ok. The one thing I would suggest is start getting experience in the field - not for the hours for your vet school application, but to make sure the veterinary field is truly right for you. Yes, animals are awesome, but it can be a REALLY emotionally taxing job at times. Clients can be harsh, and the massive student loans are no joke. Getting experience (shadowing a vet, volunteering at a vet hospital or even a shelter with a veterinarian on staff, etc) allows you to be certain that the field is a good fit for you. If you still decide it is, the academics will fall into place from there. Believe in yourself, and you've got this!

You don't actually need a bachelors before going to vet school?! How did I miss that? No one told me this before.. 'scuse me whole I go research what pre-reqs I need left.

No... I did three years of under graduate studies in zoology and then did four years in veterinary school. Then 20 years in being a vet. And 1 minute in writing this response!

What would happen if we don't give our kitty any of the shots?
